Many had questioned Henne's ability to throw the long ball with any degree of success. So far, he has proven that he can, and very well. On deep passes, targeted 20 yards or more, he is 9 for 16 for 263 yards, and 1 drop. That is VG, and #5 in the NFL, in spite of consistent pressure. Perhaps he just needed the opportunity to show what he can do.
He still needs to take that final step in the red zone, and leading a late comeback for a win. IF he can do that, he may well be a legit playoff QB.
I have a feeling that he will make that step.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention; I assure you the offensive line will take the necessary steps to correct this...

Agreed, he has improved his long ball a great deal. However, he needs to improve more then just redzone to be playoff caliber. He needs to be more consistent period, and he needs to improve his presence within the pocket.
-
Much improved in that category, I agree.

My concern is the season continues to go bad with Henne playing relatively well, new coach and GM and they pass on what could a very good crop of QBs in the draft.
It worries me that this could happen.
I'm always worried about the Dolphins, I should get a life -
I think he's looking for more chunk yards this year by passing it deep but he should be mixing it up. Checking it down to Reggie would equate to chunk yards too. Our short passing game can be very good, and I think it should be worked on more especially to develop some sort of offense at the red zone.
The fact that he doesn't understand this makes Henne a mediocre QB and playmaker. Henne will never be a Top QB in this league so we're wasting our time debating whether he will or won't be a franchise QB. Guys he's in his 4th year now.... and we're still wondering. That's telling enough. If he doesn't have potential to be a Top 5 QB then he's not a franchise QB, period. Henne doesn't even have potential to be Top 10. -

It's not the deep throws that were ever a real concern for him, we all know he has the arm. Just the past few years the dolphins have handcuffed him, what we need to see is his play step up in the red area and show us the "touch" throw he's been lacking.

Henne has a long way to go to prove that. On the other hand CK tends to admit he's wrong on something.

Does every thread have to devolve into X Member said/is Y? We can't even talk about an improvement in our QB anymore...wow.

Last season Henne was 10-40, 340 yards, on deep throws. He may improve on that with 12 games to go. He's done this with the same WRs and much worse pass protection. He has also dramatically improved his leadership, which is as important, if not more so, that the long passes.
The RZ still has to be conquered. I consider the new O, a few drops, and a number of missed communications. Call them excuses or reasons, depending on your perspective.
I do not now if Henne will be a playoff caliber QB but, he is a hell of a lot closer than a year ago. -

Bush has been a non-factor, and disappointing at best. -
Am I the only one in the frame of mind of not giving an automatic pass for a QB on drops?
Now don't get me wrong, if the #s are astonishing then that's one thing. However, drops is part of QB that tends to even out. Meaning all QBs have drops, sometimes drops can be (not entirely usually) blamed on the QBs placement, timing, etc. And I also think drops are evened out by your WRs making great catches. In other words, we don't go back and subtract a completion because a WR was the main reason for a completion, why should we subtract an incompletion because the WR was the main reason as well. Like I said, if there were an unusual high amount of drops, then obviously you have to start factoring in some what, just don't see how #s will tell the story. Which is why watching the game is still #1 way to evaluate a player. There are many different factors stats have a hard time showing.DeDolfan and Rhody Phins Fan like this. -
All great WRs have a bunch of drops. However, elite WRs don't do it often, WHEN IT REALLY MATTERS. JMOsmahtaz likes this. -
Having a WR that's has the size and positioning of a typical rebounding mid-major power forward damn sure helps Henne's down field passing numbers.

A few good names in there from 2010 -
Honestly I think if the offensive line gels in pass protection, and we improve the defense just a little bit we could win next season with a QB like Luck. Especially if DTrain is the real deal and we can lean on him.

For example vs the Pats, Henne was 1-3 to the left for 25 yards. 1-3 to the right for 28, and 2-2 in the middle for 46 yards. -

I recall a couple of deep completions down the middle by Henne but, cannot pinpoint the plays.
