IMO they are doing a great job with Henne. I think if more QBs were given two or three full, non injured seasons to develop we'd have a lot fewer QB busts.

Nice article. His decision making and read recognition are easily the things that struck me as the biggest difference from last year to this year. I think he's ready to start now, so if something happens to Penny I dont think we'll suffer

we always like the #2 QB in Miami, Dolfans like to keep things stirred up
Henne will do well & if things go according to stated plans will eventually become the #1
    having said that
I also think there were better QB's in his draft class to pick from. I was shocked when they passed over Flacco for Henne. But I know nothing of the intricacies of drafting football players. To me the biggest difference between Beck & Henne was that Parcells had chosen Henne. Beck actually had the better arm of the two #2's ( just as strong but better accuracy)
I see Henne as essentially, an understudy & unproven & hope Pennington can bring him along for another couple of years to help in his development. but anything can happen, just like drafting another #2 QB.
once outside the trenches, the TriFecta is as totally unpredictable as they are effective in building the Franchise.

23rd, we didn't pass over Flacco for Henne. Flacco was long gone by the time Henne was available.

Wait, you think Flacco should have been taken #1 ahead of Ryan ?? I totally disagree with that...they made the right decision in taking Long over a QB at the time. Things might have been different if we didn't have Penny drop into our laps and we would not have been quite as successful as we were last year, but there were other reasons for that success than a QB...

I think that you give Henne too little credit. His time on the bench will serve to make him better than he'd have been as a rookie starting, for sure. He's showing things in the offseason and preseason that point to him being ready to step in if needed and be successful at it to boot. His arm is certainly stronger than Penny's and probably than Becks. Beck might have been a little more game ready last year since he spent some (very little) time on the field the previous year. Yes, technically he's 'unproven' as you say because we haven't had to use him, but I see his progress as more Aaron Rodgers-like than your typical rookie 'year one to year two' progress....

IMO ANY QB who sits for two years or more will be a solid if not spectacular QB. The league is full of little known draft pics who were an understudy then took over and were very successfull. Henne will be just fine.

I am through with this thread after this post
am no more interested in the irrational adoration & defense of the #2, then I am in the mindless statements & attacks on our #1
    it is what it is
the QB Stable looks good to me
I wish the very best in Henne's future with the Dolphins
hope he exceeds every positive expectation
& believe he could very well be the QB for the next decade
he has come a long way under Pennington
anything good for the Franchise works for me

    enjoy the thread

Peyton Manning started all 16 games of his rookie season. He threw the most INTs out of any NFL quarterback ever in his rookie year. I think he turned out to be a pretty damn good QB so far.

I say throw'em in the fire.

Yes, there are Qbs like Manning and Ryan who start there rookie years and turn out to be HOF caliber Qbs, but they are the exception, not the rule. IMO, a QB will benefit more if he sits down for 2+ years learning the playbook. That is why I expect Henne to be a top QB once he starts playing.

Brother we have a policy here at the phins that it is okay to disagree or agree respectfully. Some of my best friends here have had differing opinions on topics far and wide. It makes me a better fan from other family members perspectives, because I learn and think about others thought process behind a topic concerning the Miami Dolphins brother. I don't take anything personal here. We agree to disagree and enjoy the site.:hi5:

You may get a few diamonds that way but mostly you'll just end up burning away a ton of potential.

just remember everyone, this is Penny's last year here. The Parcells regime has been pretty clear about that. This is Henne's team next year. Enjoy it while it you can

pretty much. penny would have to win a SB to remain and then i'm not even sure. one thing i learned watching parcells in new york is there is no BS. If the plan is to have henne start in 2010, then henne will start in 2010. penny will be given an opportunity to back him up but i dont see him taking it

Not to disrespect Pennington.....I appreciate what he's helped us do. Which is install a system and an atmosphere.

But I'm ready to see Henne get his shot asap....I think he's ready and I've seen how far Penny can take us.

Either way...........I shouldn't have to wait too long
