That's really not that uncommon for young people who have a lot of work. I have two people reporting to me that decided to do the same thing. As long as she is okay with it, I think it's a very good idea for him to wait. and considering they've been together for so long, it's probably not a big deal to either of them (just my guess).

As much as I love to hear about how dedicated he is, I agree with you brother. He needs to find a balance in his life and that balance needs to include his family.

Eh, sort of, keep in mind he has been shacking with her for years now (long enough to be Common Law married) so the typical wedding/honeymoon may not fit their situation.

Besides, the Henne 1000 cyborg takes vacations in the future as a part of it's Bios programming..

That balance is different for everyone though LS, some people require more downtime than others, some have more interests, others have only a few.

he still hasn't hit the payday, he's keeping his eyes on the prize, and Im sure his wife wants that prize just as badly.

Besides, she knows that if/when Henne makes the pro bowl, she gets a free week in Hawaii.

I think he should have taken a honeymoon. You only get married for the first time once. His wife will be beside him forever hopefully and this time is needed to bond the marriage.

That said I love the commitment, but taking 3-4 days to go on vacation might have been good for him mentally and physically as well.

Like someone said not that uncommon. My brother got married while he was in med school and you can't take time off for a honeymoon so he and his wife waited about a year until he graduated before going on theirs. It's not like Henne and his wife aren't going on a honeymoon, just probably waiting until after the season.

If he wins a SB Sparano should take him with he and his wife on their annual 4 week vacations...all expenses paid.

I'd even chip in 5 dollars...in rolled pennies.

It's a smart move for a smart couple. She's gotta know just how pivotal this year will be for him and how that will in turn affect (effect?) her life.
That said, Ive been watching Louis CK youtube clips the last couple of days to stave off boredom and now I have to believe that she's gonna stick it up his *** one of these days...

This surprises me. Not that he skipped his honeymoon, but that he married that same girl he was with when drafted. I figured he would have turned in the family station wagon for a porsche by now.

    ...what?

What I meant is this is isnt his third or fourth marriage where you say ahh whatever who cares.. This is his Lifelong love for 10 years.. High School Sweetheart I assume. She has been planning this day forever I bet...

The Big wedding a nice trip the start of a relationship etc... Instead its a wedding and back to training camp...

She understands the football stuff I know. His opportunity and won't stand in the way right now.. But somewhere deep inside shes saying WTF...

Take a few days and enjoy this special once in a lifetime event.. Football while important wont be there on your death bed..

As short as a pro football career is, they both realize it's make or break for this young man this season.

Not like he's a mailman, ya know. He's playing the most difficult and brain-taxing position in pro sports.

Seems a little strange they didnt just plan their marriage to where they can do that and their honeymoon all in the offseason, but what do I know?

I applaud his dedication to the team and his performance. Seems to me if they have been together so long, she probably doesn't mind and knows the more he succeeds and the Dolphins succeed, the better their financial future will be. And they'll be able to afford to take a honeymoon any place she wants after the season.

I don't see what is wrong with this kind of dedication to his career and team. Henne obviously cares a great deal about how well he and the team perform this season, and you must respect that. It is THEIR decision after all.

I'm sorry, they both did the right thing.

    For two reasons:

    1) The entire time he would be on the honeymoon, his head would likely be focused on getting ready for his make or break season
    2) IF he fails this season, and he had taken the honeymoon, its likely to be something that haunts their marriage for some time to come. Because no doubt he was the one that initially made the push to delay it, so there will be resentment.

This is year is too big for their family for him to take time off. If he makes it this year, his family will be set for a while in all likelihood. If he doesn't, he blew his chance, and he won't be able to provide for his family like he wanted to. That's not to say he won't be able to provide, but a Franchise starting QB's salary is a BIT larger than a backup/UFL QB.

So long as she's cool with it, I can't see how this is a bad idea.

10-15 years from now, after a very successful QB career with the phins, Henne will be in a press conference announcing his retirement. He will then be asked "So chad, were there any regrets?"...There will be an awkward little pause,.....and with that pause, each and every single one of us will be reminded of this very thread, and smirk a little!!

I wonder what everyone's reaction would've been had we heard he was going on a 2-3 week honeymoon, and wouldn't be back until just before TC opens?

I think he did the right thing. I admire his dedication. This tells me he's got his priorities in order, and he's got a great wife supporting him too. I'm stoked to see this kid in action this season.
