Here's what Henne has done with and without pressure.
No Pressure- 253-373, 2774 yds, 67.8%, 11 TD's, 13 picks, 0 sacks
Pressure- 49-118, 524 yds, 41.5%, 4 TD's, 5 picks, 30 sacks.
Blitz- 114-179,1454 yds, 63.7%, 7 TD's, 6 picks, 19 sacks
Under pressure and being blitzed are separated as a blitz does not always result in pressure.
I did take a look at a number of other QB's pressure stats and, save a few, Henne is right there with his completion percentage, avg yards, and TD/Int under pressure.
He is also right there vs the blitz vs most QB's, although TD/Ints could be a bit better. Guess he is better without thinking.
His biggest problem is TD/Ints when there is no pressure. Blame whoever ya like (plenty to go around) but, this has to be fixed, and it has to be fixed this year, or we need to move on.

It translates into getting a running game going along with a solid offensive line. That takes pressure off of any and every Qb.
Whether we like Henne or not, this is not arguable imo....MarinePhinFan, larfo2224, SCall13 and 3 others like this. -

I agree with what Ozz says.....
A running game would take a ton of pressure off of Henne.
Could it be that when he isnt under pressure....thats when he actually thinks TO MUCH....I think its a perfect reflection of....the preaching of being to careful, not turning the ball over. Henne just needs someone to tell him..."Kid...you got a golden arm...use it" The thing about Marino....is that he had such confidence if he turned the ball over with an INT...he could get it back with a TD on the next drive.MarinePhinFan, larfo2224, SCall13 and 1 other person like this. -

so what this is saying is that Henne's robotic shell is NOT made from Unobtainium, yes?

Even Peyton couldn't make it happen during a 5 game stretch. So I guess now Manning sucks, too, when he has little support around him?
What you're asking is like trying to take a monster truck (what Sparano wanted our offense to be) and all of a sudden turning it into an airplane. It's pretty hard to take something that was designed & intended to run over things and then ask it to fly over them instead.MarinePhinFan and GMJohnson like this. -

shouldn't we count Phantom pressure as well, Henne's happy feet and hectic tempo without pressure is one of my biggest concerns....Dude does not look comfortable in the pocket..I would be nervous to if I knew I couldn't run from the bullies..

I just wish we had a QB who had enough confidence in himself to believe he can take the team on his shoulders.....and will them into the endzone. I think Henne tried to hard to do everything Sparano, Lee, and Pennington told him to do. He bought into the care taker QB job.....
I almost think he believes its ok just to be an average QB.
I want a kid with the metality it seems Mallet has. He believes hes a stud...and your not gonna convince him different. Might he be an *** hat? Maybe....but we need a QB with Balls and Swagger -

Henne doesn't strike fear into anyone. Sure his under pressure numbers are "in line" which doesn't mean much. His regular numbers suck. so that just means defense don't feel the need to have to pressure Henne as much as they would a Peyton, a Brady.ToddsPhins likes this. -

Henne's best formation is when he runs out of that spread offense. His best formation if anything would perhaps even be a K-Gun reminiscent of the Bills in the early 90s. Give him a receiving back that can catch his wild errant short passes, and add perhaps a little more speed from one of the WR spots and he's actually a pretty good quarterback. Ask him to read the field with a two WR set, two blocking TEs, and a slow *** RB in play action formation and well you're ****ed.

This doesn't save Henne from every poor decision cause he made too many, but in the end i just dont believe he had a chance. Everyone was always covered and why wouldnt they be? What in the our offense would ever confuse the opposing defense? Play action on 3rd down. two wr sets. A non-threat at te. no running game.
the only thing that ever works is Marshall beasting it or Bess' fantastic route running gets him open. thats IT.
God we're a mess. -
I think henne's biggest problem last year was facing zone coverage. He had no feel as to how to attack it, when to be safe and when to get aggressive. Not to be surprised since he's still learning. I think that will be the key for whether he succeeds or not, can he beat zone.

The way I'm going to approach this season
is I'm going to pretend I never saw the bum play before...
I'm going to totally discount the fact that he is a bust,
however, I am unwilling to give him the benefit of the doubt,
only because there can be no doubt about his lack of ability.
Instead, I bequeath to him a veil of anonymity to hide behind
until he's ready to re-event himself & make his run in 2011.
May the new Chad Henne emerge to lead us to the SuperBowl
This is my approach to the up-coming season
now I ask you: what are the chances?
