Since the season began I set some goals for the Dolphins Franchise:
-Top 5 Defense
-9-7 record
-Henne tops Cus Frerotte's numbers from our last 9-7 season:
18 Td's, 13 int's, 3k passing yards 52% accuracy
Chad Henne after Wk #14
13 Td's 14 int's 2,676 yds 60.6% accuracy
3 games left, two against teams with 5 wins combined, Henne needs:
5 Td's
334 passing yds
Cannot throw another Int though I suspect he will and interestingly, Frerotte had 9 fumbles lost in 2005, Henne has 4, so that balances out the interceptions.
To low a bar for Henne perhaps?

Thanks for not including that BS Pit INT. I can't believe they'd reward Harrison for a clean game like that.

Interesting thing about Frerotte that season, iirc he made the pro bowl as an alternate, the last Dolphins Qb to do so as once again, iirc, Pennington was not selected in 2008. -
Pretty low bar Pad.
But Linehan was a much better coordinator and actually took some shots downfield. However, if Henne's best year is Gus Frerotte, I think we've seen all we need to see. -
I do think on offense though, this team is more talented, so this is not a cheerleading effort for Henne, just attainable goals for this situation, Gus was actually quite good that yr, of course lil nicky did not think so and we all know the rest of the story.
Which is why, to me, Dolfans have been in this situation before.MarinePhinFan likes this. -
Henne through 13 games: 385 attempts
Frerotte through 15 games: 494 attempts
Safe to say 30 attempts at least for the next 3 games and the parallel is remarkable.
Suspect Frerotte's 9 fumbles lost is something Henne won't come close to passing, though Henne probably will pass him in terms of interceptions but not enough to tip the scale away from Henne.
And Gus had a functioning running game with Ronnie and Ricky.unluckyluciano and MarinePhinFan like this. -

Why is it a low bar? Henne is a 2nd year quarterback. The bar seems pretty good to me.

Henne is averaging 238 YPG
Ryan is at 242 YPG
Brady is at 260 YPGunluckyluciano likes this. -

Chambers had his lone all pro yr that season
McMike had 582 yds 5 Td's which Fasano has 467 4 td's
Bess easily dusts Welker's 29 for 424
The running game though, not even in the same ballpark.
As I glance at those stats, the similarities are remarkable, save for TD's, if Marshall had not missed 2.5 games he would be parallel with Chambers season that yr.
Hmm. -
Gus's 9 fumbles is an amazing number..wow..:D
As a point of perspective, comparing Henne to Frerotte makes sense to me simply because they have similar traits, though Henne is more accurate, Gus had 9 yrs experience on Henne, so it evens out.
And that was the last team with a winning record in Miami aside from 2008's 11-5.. -

I somewhat recall Frerotte that yr, I was still suffering from Wanny Dolfans Displacement Syndrome and just had lost interest in my beloved Dolphins.
What will be even more fun, when the season ends, comparing 05's Defense to 2010's Defense.
Saban had vets and plugged in just a couple of rooks (Crowder mostly) Nolan has Rooks and 2nd or 3rd yr players across the defense for the most part (Crowder, Bell, Dansby, Soliai) so it will be interesting to see just how good this Defense will end up. -

But now you go back and watch that game again. He didn't even look at Marlen Moore. The high/low reads went to the low except for the one deep to Marshall. We still have the same issue. They will squat on the underneath and we can't bank on 10 point wins. It's been the same issues all year. I don't know what to call it. Scared maybe? I don't know. But somehow in some way this team can never strike deep. And the receivers are down there. Boy howdy are they down there. -
