Nothing earth shattering..
The fact that Sparano talked him to coming back for one more year when his foot wanted to be out the door is telling on some levels..He coached like it..

Not surprising he gave the "no comment" answer on Brandon Marshall. Marshall himself has already given the "no comment" answer on Dan Henning several times. It's obvious they didn't get along.

The ''boy'', needs to play hard, keep his head down, and his mouth shut.I dont care what the circumstances are..If he can't do that, after this offseason, after what he's been through, and the contract he signed, then he can piss off..I'll draft Blackmon, Floyd, or Broyles and be done with it.

Its just a challenge my friend..I want him to be on the field, but if you allow him to continue this type of behavior and keep him, your only hurting yourself in the long run..Coaching staff would be indicted for me.
All he's got to do is act like a man, be grateful for the contract, and play football. -

Two passages stick out.
We've discussed stubbornness ad nauseam. But this illustrates a certain level of philosophical disagreement between Henning and Sparano.
With Parcells and Henning gone, Tony is truly his own man now. Daboll is his pick as offensive coordinator. And much has been made about opening things up and being explosive. So we will see. Ireland seems to be on the same page, arming them with three intriguing skill players and a center in the draft.

Henning wanted Drones, Marshall wanted the spotlight, we all should have seen this one coming.
Sparano made a misjudgment concerning Henning, this is one of the examples of Irish/Sparano being very poor at predicting what could go wrong but typically being excellent at fixing what went wrong.
To me, the other 3 Coaches who should have been on the hot seat are Secondary Coach Todd Bowles and OL Coach Dave Gugliemo and ST Coordinator Rizzi, to me all 3 seriously underperformed in 2010, so much so they probably should have been fired, can understand why they were not fired, Contuity and Sparano correctly did not want to toss guys overboard after Ross's Big Adventure but:
-29th ranked ST unit, we gave up as many TD's with Rizzi as ST Coach as we did with Bonamego
-20-30 (!) dropped interceptions easily the worst in the NFL
-Berger was not good, Jerry was not good, McQuistan was not good, Murtha was passable, we had no one step up in 2010 when we needed them to. -
Jorge Sedano had John Clayton on his show the other day. In the process of asking a question, he mentioned that off the record, Dolphins players were telling the media en masse that a significant portion of the locker room did not like or respect Chad Henne and had no faith in him. "Significant portion" seems to be a euphemism for "the other 10 guys on offense", because the frustration carried over onto the field, and people were yelling at Henne left and right. I particularly remember Fasano *****ing Henne out after a busted play leading to a punt.
So why is Marshall given crap for saying or doing things that no one can quite identify when and where they occurred, but Fasano and the other offensive players given passes for sharing Marshall's sentiments?Frumundah Finnatic, DolfanJake, ckparrothead and 1 other person like this. -
Who is this Henning character?
-
I watched the guy lolligag thru a professional football game with 0 focus and a bad attitude that directly resulted into drops on the football field which effects outcomes of games. -
You don't have to like someone to play hard and focused, its an immature mind that needs to get checked. -

Marshall was pissed and rightfully so, he was brought here to headline this offensive passing attack and he turned into a decoy. In Denver people knew where the ball was going but no one could stop him, the guy has a huge frame, vert and amazing hands. It seems like they used him most of the time to open up the middle for Bess and Butterfingers aka Fasano. Lets not even speak of the red zone, the guy is the tallest biggest receiver we have and it was seldom that we threw it up there for him to grab and he has done his entire career. Then there is the financial side of things, I wouldn't be surprised if he has incentives tied to his performance such as receptions, yards and touchdowns. Well if hes not getting opportunities to earn his money hes going to get pissed as would i.

Especially since, as I recall, what Fasano was yelling at Henne for on that play did not really appear to be Henne's fault.
But it's interesting that Jorge Sedano said that Dolphins players were privately off the record telling media members en masse that they had no confidence in Chad Henne. That's been something hotly debated in the past, the extent to which many players in the locker room sort of gave up on Chad Henne.Desides likes this. -
Probably because Marshall has a history of being a malcontent. And there was clearly plenty more going on "behind the scenes" that we didn't see or hear. Fasano, on the other hand is not typically a guy who shows emotion and frustration. He got frustrated for one play in one game. Other than that particular play, I didn't see Fasano get heated with anyone. Marshall, as we all knew before he was signed, was coming with baggage. And a big part of his baggage was being a little ***** the majority of the time. We're talking about a second year QB in a pathetic offensive system, playing with a garbage offensive line and sub-par RB play. Marshall doesn't see the big picture because he's all about himself. So he rattles off about anyone and everyone else because it can't be his fault. Look at the bone-headed crap he did in some of the games. He had several unsportsmanlike conduct penalties that cost us good field position and put our offense in a hole. He also let up in games pretty consistently because he doesn't wear big boy pants and plays like a punk when he feels like it. Fasano never acted like that. Nor did any other players. As anemic as our offense was as a WHOLE, everyone else went out and at least played hard and didn't act like a freakin' punk just for the sake of doing so.MrClean likes this. -
A decoy with 80 + catches? Really? There are a lot of receivers in the league that would LOVE to be that kind of decoy. -

I wish we had something different to talk about. Everyday it seems to be the same thing.

It's undeniable that with Brandon Marshall you get the good with the bad.
But as I recall, he only drew one stupid penalty this year, flipping the ball to Jay Cutler during the Bears game. He got it after making a 14 yard catch that got the Dolphins a 1st down at the Bears' 10 yard line. They enforced the 15 yards for it between downs, so it still resulted in a 1st & 10. He really didn't think he was going to get a penalty for what he did, and after the game he apologized for it and said it was completely his fault. He owned up to it.
He got an offensive pass interference (10 yards) against the Patriots, which I think you're going to live with in a player as physical as him. He got an illegal formation against the Titans, which was declined. He got an offensive holding penalty on 3rd & 15 which was declined. He got an illegal block penalty (10 yards) against the Bears when Tyler Thigpen took off scrambling. Again, that's something that tends to happen when a QB starts scrambling around.
For a guy that had the ball sent his direction 135 times this year, we're only talking about 35 yards in penalties. Only one of them was really a "dumb" or unnecessary penalty.
I think that whole aspect of his primadonna-ness is extremely overblown. One dumb penalty flipping the football to one of his best friends trying to trash talk him, something he owned up to and apologized for, does not call for the guy to be called "boy" (which I agree with GARDENHEAD has all kinds of racial tones in it).
I wonder if DJ would call Brandon Marshall "boy" to his face.Ohio Fanatic, Aqua4Ever04, Desides and 1 other person like this. -

And we wound up being shut out in that game, how important was that penalty?
Recall also, he pulled the same thing in the titans game the week before, nearly the same situation but was flagged 5 yd for it (iirc about the flag).
So the next week he does the same thing? Was he not happy about not getting a 15 yd flag the week before?

The more people complain about Brandon Marshall's conduct, the more it's revealed that they don't actually know the details of what's transpired. I suspect most are simply applying their stereotypes of what a talented receiver must act like, without bothering to verify if anything they allege actually occurred.
Frankly, the worst thing Marshall's done in his career, IMO, is lie about breaking his arm two offseasons ago. He claimed he slipped on a McDonald's bag and crashed his arm through his TV set. Turns out he was play-wrestling either a family member or a friend. That sort of screwing around is harmful to athletes: just ask Chad Pennington, who tore his ACL a couple months ago during a pickup basketball game.GARDENHEAD likes this. -

If you did, you'd appreciate his hard work and wouldn't call him a boy. But, of course, Brandon Marshall is just a boy who was born big and fast. Right. -
Someone broke like Mike Tyson no.
What is with this say it to his/my face stuff. He's not a killer.
Sebastian Telfair, that's a different story. He got Fabolous shot up ;) -

I want the guy to succeed in the best way, but he needs to grow up, if you don't get that, than me and you have a different definition of how a professional athlete/man should conduct himself.
He got up after a catch, picked the ball up in a very aggressive manner, and launched it, really got some juice behind it, to the sideline, in the middle of a game, for a 15 yarder..Players who act like punks on the field need to be reminded..Thats what I'am doing here, making sure in case he's readin, that he should check himself. -
Saying 'boy' to a black man especially down south may not be the best way to go.............just from my own experience. Those guys tend not to respond too well to being called 'boy'.
