RB's in the draft ....

....and try and 'chin up' everyone. I was pissed yesterday like everyone else but we have many bright spots on this team. Much progress has been made, and we are only a tweek or two away from being great again. I know that our expectations were high this year (I know mine was) but we can still make some good things happen.
.....and to make room on the roster who would you trade / cut??

Right now, I want a running back in the first round. A fast guy who can hit a home run on every touch and can help out in the passing game.

on the bubble dan henning. LOL.He's on the firing line. He single handly has cost us a handful of game and kept us out of the playoffs. He needs to go. Henne needs 1 year with a good offensive cordinator before I say good bye to him. Mark Ingram in the 1st rd is my choice.

More of the problem is the Head Coach. Once we got Brandon Marshall, all focus on our run game, run blocking and pounding the holes ended and was replaced with the idea that Henning, Henne and Marshall could be Marino switching offensive gears away from our signature running game. I think this focus is the problem. We could be FORCING Henne's development because TS wants to throw the ball on three downs. Last year this was not the focus and Henne didn't have these issues to this extent.
In short Henning, Henne, and Marshall are being thrust into a passing offense that we just aren't ready for. Handing the ball off and running wildcats was much easier on Henne and Henning last year - what happened?? Sporano and his mental switch. Now no one knows how to run or run block anymore. I don't think that Henning is the true problem, Sporano is.
If I am not mistaken doesn't the Head Coach have to approve the OC's plays / offensive scheme in their offensive meeting before each game? Sporano and his sideline antics can fake 'grandstanding' and artificial excitement all he wants to but this new pass oriented offense is not working. Our 'run to pass' offense has been replaced by a 'pass to run offense and the player level failures are leaving Henning holding the bag. Of course that is just my opinion of things. -
My eternal hope is that - somehow - Henne gets it together, and he'll have his chance, like it or not. But in the draft, I like that Stanzi kid from Iowa. Reminds me a bit of Penny w/ a slightly better arm.
The best QBs in this league aren't just athletically gifted, they are smart!! Stanzi is that! -

If Henne can at least get it together to be an average QB, Stanzi might be a nice p/u to put on the bench for a year or two. -
Marshall? You want to get rid of the most talented skill player on the offense? He's not effective b/c our OC sucks and we don't have anything on the field to prevent defenses from taking Brandon out of the game at their leisure. Seriously, who do defenses have to worry about game-planning against outside Marshall?
Have you seen the troubles that Larry Fitz has had this year w/o Boldin opposite him to help balance out the coverage? He's one of the best WRs in the game yet he ranks 16th in yards and 22nd in TDs, as opposed to last year when he was 1st in TDs and 7th in yards. -
The Gurus here are more spot on than the guys at Walterfootball IMO...... ESPECIALLY anything related to Miami. -
We need a runningback who can hit holes and give us a homerun possibilty. As well as improving the interior o-line.
Oh, and most importantly a new OC. -
I thought this article was interesting and kind of mirrors what I said earlier about the focus of the post Brandon Marshall offense. This is Ricky Williams talking about the absent running game and his answer as to what he believes is wrong.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=capress-fbn_dolphins_spry_ricky-5359947
"I don't think we've done it enough," Williams said Wednesday during a conference call with New York media. "Last year we ran it for 100 yards several times, and it was because we were running the ball. Whether we're getting down in games or coach likes the passing game plan, we just haven't run the ball enough."
I believe this is the case. If we stuck with our 'Run to Pass offense' we would be much better off and Henne wouldn't be put on the spot so much. The post Marshall offense has us running a 'Pass to Run offense' that our team just wasn't designed for. We built this team to bash the holes 'Black and Blue' and we changed in mid stream. That's kinda like putting a VW engine in a Corvette.
I think the good news is that this can be easily changed back since our talent is the same, but Sporano has to want it, and I don't think he does. Every offensive scheme that Henning produces has to be approved by the head coach, that's his job. TS must like what he is seeing? IDK??
It is frustrating to watch knowing that we are just dripping with talent at every position, and that we have two or even three times the talent of teams that we are losing to have. I think that's what galls us the most. We should be in first place and we aren't even close. I have no idea what the answer to this team is. I just guess like everyone else, and hope it changes -
