Can we try something original? Instead of all these Henne-Henning-Sparano threads, let's do something different.

How about a thread on how Lydon Murtha sucks? How about a thread on how Marlon Moore & Roberto Wallace belong on the practice squad, not on the field. I'd like to see a thread about Ronnie and Ricky and how they are slower than a drunk ******, can only get decent yds if the blocking is perfect and suck at picking up blitzes. Maybe someone can start a thread about all the great ways we can attack the defense using Mickey Shuler or Patt Cobbs or Lex Hilliard or Lousaka Polite or Kevin Curtis or Mastrud or Epps or John Nalbone. No sense in leaving out Berger and McQuistan, lets make a thread about how powerful they are at the point of attack and how they never allow penetration. Lets make a thread about how good Incognito is as a pulling guard, a shotgun snapper, and how nimble he and Jerry are on screen plays. Oh, and Vernon Carey, we need a thread on how well he's blown up since he signed that fat contract.

I'm not biased towards the offense, not at all. We can create some threads about if Wake isn't creating pressure then there isn't any. That'd fit in great around here. I doubt anyone on our defense could tell you what perfume Brady was wearing on Sunday. And what about our secondary, leading the league w/ 30+ dropped INTs? We need at least two threads on that. I think Vontae should get his own thread. I keep hearing about how good he is, but he hasn't made a play all year. 1 gift INT where he was beaten (Percy Harvin) but the ball was tipped into his hands. No forced fumbles, precious few big hits, lots of missed tackles, lots of being in good position but failing to make a play, and lots of reading his own press clippings, apparently. We definitely need a thread on that. We could make a thread on just how bad our ST units, from KO to KOR to Punt to PR, FG team, onside kicks, you name it, we all bash it.

I could make these threads myself, and I'd have fun doing it, but I think it should be a group exercise. We all need to get involved, a TEAM effort, no one person held responsible, getting all of the credit or all of the blame. Why? Because frankly, I care about all of you guys here at thephins and I don't want anyone's feelings to be hurt when Andrew Luck or Ryan Mallett or Jim Harbaugh or Bill Cowher or Logan Mankins or Mark Ingram come in here and fail to solve all of our problems b/c they cant overcome just how bad we suck. So we need to take this bashing spree seriously, no half @ssing. It's the only way we can avoid getting duped all over again next year. Duped into thinking we have 3 capable QBs when we really have none. Or a solid run game when we couldn't run through wet tissue. An old savvy OC and not an incompetent dinosaur. A tough as nails leader of men, not a guy named after a TV series, who only uses Xs and Os for games of Tic Tac Toe, and who has a strange fetish for FGs.

In 2011, we're not falling for the banana in the tailpipe, and we need to make sure of it. Who's with me? :wink2:

Have to say, great post man. I'm fully behind you that this team is not close and it's really b/c of one issue. The offensive line. If we had a superior offensive line, Ronnie and Ricky would have been able to muster 4.5+ YPC and that would have taken a bit of the pressure off the passing game. It may not have won us more games, but it would certainly make me believe that we are alot closer then reality. We need an offensive line overhaul. It's that simple. We need a QB. We need a game breaking RB. We need a playmaking TE. We need another pass rusher. That's way too many holes to fill in one off-season. It will take at least 2 to 3 years to fill those holes and that point, Marshall, Bess, Long, Dansby, Wake will all be 2 to 3 years older and then on the backside of their careers.

It sucks. We are now once again behind the eight ball and almost having to re-build all over again. No way am I going to start drinking the cool-aid for 2011 unless we fill 80% of the holes that we have and I don't think that's even possible. So you have another member behind you in not expecting much of anything for 2011 and I certainly will not be buying any merchandise or tickets. They don't deserve it.

All good except Vontae Davis, the kid has been shutdown almost all year long man. Cant complain about that he did let a few slip and we all know well this kid would STARVE TO DEATH as a receiver but he's doing his job he's shutting down his receivers.

I agree, he did a good job. Not good enough for me though. Gotta make a play at some point if you want to be considered a top echelon guy. Bait the QB, take a risk, jump a route, force a fumble, something. Not asking for it week in and week out, but a whole season and no game changing plays? That's disappointing.

    good post GM..

On offense, there are 11 positions including runningback backup postions and cordinator that are up for grab's, and that iam looking for upgrades..I know I will have to settle or reshuffle some of those.

Special teams...another disaster...I need a damn full time returner damn it..lol..

Ireland has done a bad job of drafting late round picks that have special teams skillsets.

Yeah, offensively we're a complete mess, from top to bottom. Did you see Marshall's press conference Sunday? Came about as close to calling Henne and Henning incompetent as you can get without coming out and saying it. With so many upgrades to make and limited resources, what do you think we should address first?

Agreed. Fix the OL and running game first and foremost. Better guards, a stud back or two. Another pass rusher. A TE who can beat Cover 2. A WR who can create space for Marshall to work underneath. Most of all, an OC who can put an offense together and develop a QB b/c any QB we get will either be a rookie or a retread.

    Well:

-Running Back, 50% of the offense cannot be unable to produce big plays and expect to win ballgames
    -ST..hire Steve Crosby
-fulltime ST players with maybe a Kick Off specialist added.
-the Oline has to be fixed as well, two Guards, maybe a Center as well

The running game has to be fixed and there must be more explosive players added into the mix that to me is #2 behind ironing out the Qb position.

He hasn't done anything in awhile, looking back over the last 3 seasons he has not done very much..

    How bad was Rizzi?

He took over the Dolphins were 31st, he brought that down to 19, after yet another Return TD..back to 29th to finish the season.

With Mangini being fired, Brad Seely would be another name to watch, his first yr in Cleveland they were ranked #1 in the NFL, this yr they were #12 ex Pats ST coach

BTW, GM, why not go to the Packers and poach their Qb Coach?

I think one of the things we saw this yr is the plan for hiring Coaches and they then becoming HC's themselves down the road, is not operational, I say that as Nolan was "money" the offensive guys weren't, so bringing in positional and unit coaches is a kind of admitting that "this" system is not working.

the thing with crosby is he arguably had the worst sp tms performance of any team this year. i know he's considered a good sp tms coach but the 2010 chargers sp tms made us look like hall of famers

I'd love to steal Brad Smith from the NYJ (Holmes also), sign Benson or Bush, draft 2 RBs (Ryan Williams or Ingram and N. Devine), a G, a RT, and move Richie to C like you mentioned a while back. Re-sign Wake and Soliai, cut Will Allen, and use the money for Mankins, if we can't get him, Johnathan Joseph is a FA also and he'd look nice across from Vontae.

Oh, and get McDaniels (or someone else who can develop QBs) in here to put it all together. Give Sparano one more year b/c a) the lockout and b)Ross may be rich, but I doubt he has the stomach for a major FA spending spree, 6-10 million for a new coach & GM, while still being on the hook for Sparano & Ireland (4 million) and the rest of the current coaching staff.

Blackmon is a monster, and probably the better player, but I'd go Ingram b/c our quickest path to success is via running and playing defense. Cant ask Henne or whoever our QB is to carry us, but we can ask our running game to carry our QB. Also, the FA WR list is insane this year, we'll be able to sign 1 or 2 good ones b/c the market is flooded with em'. http://www.footballsfuture.com/2011/fa/wr.html

Side Note: In so many words, Marshall absolutely KILLED Chad Henne in his press conference after the Pats game. Killed Henning as well. Now the team website has pulled the video, has anyone seen it anywhere else? Its the one wear he's wearing the brown scarf.

I trust Ireland. He cleaned up the defense in one off season, I hope he can do the same on offense. Need a coordinator asap & then go from there.

I like Rob Ryan, but suspect he winds up being a Head Coach in either Carolina, or maybe even Cleveland.

We have a numbers problem on offense GM, to many holes, to few draft choices to reasonably expect them to fill them, add in the CBA situation and we maybe have to go bargain Shopping this offseason.

For example I like Joey Haynos, I can think of 2 or 3 running backs we should bring in, also think we will see much more Roster Mining for in house solutions.

Eh, well can Ingram take a 280 carry pounding?

We need a factor back/workhorse ala Mike Turner, if Ingram was dinged in college can he do it in the pros?

What I am thinking is we find a Vet Qb not the greatest Qb but not terrible, retool the Oline, and find that dominant running back.

    Say:

Shaun Hill, A FA Left Guard, maybe take a playmaker at #15 like Blackmon

Maybe keep Ronnie Brown and then plug another guy next to him

And Beast did toss Chad Henne under the bus, RW tossed him under there as well I do think the story was "Brandon Marshall unsure about Henne"

I'd rather just give Nolan another shot at Head Coach (and see if we can find him a QB) than keep Sparano around.

Not sure on Ingram either. I'm with you in that I like Ryan Williams, but he's another guy who's dinged a lot.

QB is a total mess. Marshall & Ricky both say Henne sucks. No one is coming out to defend him, and he's not defending himself either so I'm done defending him also. Normally, I'd say give Henne another year rather than waste a year with a retread or put a rookie into this mess, but if Henne has lost the support of his teammates then he needs to go.

I'd take Benson over Brown if the $$$ is anywhere near similar. Then draft two Runners and look for some FA WRs. Hopefully we can recoup that 2nd round pick. I'd only favor staying at 15 if Mallett or another QB we like falls there. Of course any QB that falls past all of the QB needy teams in front of us probably isn't that good anyway so who knows. Interesting times ahead.

He has not, after the first few games he was our 2nd best CB, Smith played better even with his dropped ints.
