Hmm, wonder if Helena Bonham Carter will be in it?

(at least she's married to the guy, you'd think Depp was too)

I'm getting a wee bit tired of Burton's Fairy Tales.

The thread title cracked me up, but I'm more intrigued by a Depp/Burton Dark Shadows than I am for Alice in Wonderland.

Crapola, I was hoping they'd be getting started on the possible Salvador Dali biopic.

Actually bro, I can't see Depp being meanacing enough to play Barnabas Collins.

The knock on his last flick was that he wasn't imposing enough to be Capone, how will he be as Collins???

I'll prolly catch it on Netflix, but ya, Burton's formula is a bit tired for me. Johnny Depp plays a weird character + a girl that is spooky playing his love interest + The dude from Oingo Boingo doing the soundtrack = meh.

I've never seen an actor try to typecast themselves as Johnny Depp has. He needs to stick to the Public Enemies/Secret Window/Donnie Brasco type roles for me to be interested.

Yes I did...and the character of Sweeney Todd wasn't an imposing one. Was Jeffrey Dahmer imposing? No, he looked like a geek. Violent and murderous doesn't have to be imposing.

Take for instance Depp's portrayal of Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder played a loveable, yet intimidating Wonka. Depp could never have pulled that off.

To play a vampire like Collins, he needs to be physically imposing. Depp's more suited to play a sparkling ghey vampire like in "Twilight" than a menacing one.

Don't get me wrong, Depp's a great actor...but I'm anticipating the same thing as when Cruise butchered the role of Lestat.

He didn't play Capone he played John Dillinger and I thought he did a great job.

Depp is great in most of his movies.

My bad...Dillinger. And sorry, I thought while he acted good, he wasn't menacing enough.

I was watching Batman on TV the other day and was thinking to myself that Michael Keaton reminded me of someone for some reason. And I realize it was Depp that he reminded me of. Maybe its because of the kind of character that Burton likes in his movies. Maybe it was just me.

hard to be menacing and evil when you burst into song and dance every 10 minutes. while i haven't seen all of sweeney todd which intrigued me until i found out it was a musical, he quickly turned from bad-ash to girly-boy for me when he started singing show-tunes.

he was supposed to be a bad ash(i think) in that antonio banderas movie which was made in between pirates movies but i threw up in my mouth a little when he said "savy".
