If you're getting what you got out of Wallace last season, improving the unit doesn't really even need to include replacements so much as it does getting him off the field to whatever extent you can manage it.

When you get down to the resource management game which pretty much is team building, what you got from Hartline(and what you seemed to get from Gibson) for the cost is hugely more palatable than what you got from Wallace.

If we could move Wallace next year, Gibson, Hartline, Matthews, Johnson, and TBD would be a great corps. Matthews has his work cut out for him because of the investments we made in some of these guys. $60 million sort of makes you feel obligated to throw the ball a certain way. If we had went the Greg Jennings route, a guy who gets open deep with speed, quickness, and precise route running, we'd be in great shape. In 15 games last year he had almost Mike Wallace numbers with three glorified passing jugs.

At the same time, Wallace also takes away resources from other team areas. Greg Jennings counts $10 million against the cap less than Mike Wallace. That's two mid-tier O-linemen or our entire draft class + $4 million right there.

If you can get rid of Wallace, Johnson would make sense for the right price.

Why would you need to get rid of Wallace to sign Johnson? They could coexist for one season anyway.
