ESPN.com's Mike Rodak considers Stevie Johnson's roster spot in jeopardy.
Coming off an injury-riddled 2013, Johnson is set to count $8.5 million against the cap. He's a candidate to be released following Buffalo's trade for Mike Williams, with second-year receivers Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin both capable of taking on expanded roles. Because releasing Johnson carries $8.475 million in dead money, he could be asked to restructure. If the Bills ultimately decide to move on from Johnson, they would free up just $25,000 in cap space.

He's only 27.. And he's a very good receiver..no red flags...injured last couple seasons but who isn't..he will restructure that's not what we would have to pay him..look Hartline is comin off an injury that's saddling him for most of the offseason, that's not good for this dude, this guy needs to be getting stronger, and he's not..stevie Johnson is an upgrade at the #2, that's the bottom line and Hickeys job description.

He absolutely is. Being in WNY I'm subjected to watching a lot of Bills games and he's dropped many a critical and/or game winning pass. Happens every season and you can ask any Bills fan. If you thought Chambers was bad then this guy will blow your mind.

Unlucky 13subscriberHe's better than Matthews right now, but I doubt he'd want to come in for that role, and I woudn't trust him as anthing more. I like our top three A LOT more than I like him.
Conuficusluxury_boxIs Johnson inconsistent? Absolutely. He can disappear in games faster than Ted Ginn, but when he does show up he can light you up. Very quick, dynamic player with the ball in his hands, and IIRC he has hurt us a few times in the past.
He shouldn't be the number 1 guy, but as a 2 or 3 he is in his element and would likely succeed in this offense, especially with players like Clay and Wallace to help open things up for him.
The caveat to all of this is, is that we need to be very careful to not push Rishard Matthews down. Truthfully, we need to get this kid more playing time. He seems like he has made some nice strides in the last two years and should be more of a force this year and really should be hovering around the 35-45 reception area this year.
