    BOLD = Power Points
    ( ) = Last week's rankings.

    1 New York Giants 20.859 (2)
Another impressive and dominant victory. Tennessee slips up and the defending world champs claim 1st place for the first time all season.
    2 Tennessee Titans 18.814 (1)
Did Tennessee really have to lose their one game to the Jets? I live in New York and the Jets-Giants Superbowl hysteria here is enough to make me want to punch a kindergartner.
    3 New York Jets 15.405 (7)
The Dolphins will need help from Den, SF, Buf, or Sea to make that week 17 game meaningful. But it was an impressive victory to make it five straight wins for the Jets
    4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13.786 (5)
Down 17-0 with 3 quarters to play, Tampa woke up and realized they were playing the Lions. Impressive gut check moment, and another choke by the Lions. They've likely just stolen the division from the Panthers.
    5 Carolina Panthers 13.155 (3)
The most inconsistent team in the league once again delivered a flat performance. If they make the playoffs which team will show up the powerhouse or the pushover? The Panthers also don't get a break in the last 5 weeks. Games against GB, TB, Den, NYG, and NO will put this team to the test. If they make the playoffs, they will have earned it.
    6 Pittsburgh Steelers 12.982 (6)
Hopefully 10 days off before playing the Pats will be enough to secure a victory. The Steelers have a tough 4-game stretch ahead, after the Pats they have Dal, Bal, and Ten.
    7 Indianapolis Colts 12.964 (8)
They are 2 games into a 6 week stretch of teams under .500. They will make the playoffs. If the Dolphins don't make the playoffs it will most likely be because this team got on a roll. But the good news is they may be on just enough of a roll that they can stop the Jets from advancing in the playoffs.
    8 Arizona Cardinals 12.209 (4)
They had a chance with a statement game against the Giants, but the Giants are just too damn good and they ruinedk 13. Arizona's perfect home record and their chances of securing the NFC West in Week 12 instead of Wee
    9 New England Patriots 12.086 (12)
**** this classless team. **** them in the ***.
    10 Atlanta Falcons 11.864 (15)
Impressive rebound victory against the Panthers. Like every team in the NFC South they'll earn their spot in the playoffs if they make it.
    11 Baltimore Ravens 11.609 (11)
    12 Dallas Cowboys 11.432 (9)
    13 Washington Redskins 10.886 (10)
    14 Miami Dolphins 9.141 (13)
Disappointing loss in the biggest game for this franchise in five years. They still have a shot at redemption, but they'll need help because they are still on the outside looking in.
    15 Minnesota Vikings 9.027 (18)
    16 New Orleans Saints 8.759 (19)
    17 Chicago Bears 8.032 (20)
    18 Philadelphia Eagles 7.795 (16)
    19 Denver Broncos 7.655 (14)
    20 Green Bay Packers 7.277 (17)
    21 Buffalo Bills 6.023 (21)
    22 San Diego Chargers 4.182 (23)
    23 Cleveland Browns 4.018 (22)
    24 Houston Texans 2.973 (25)
    25 Oakland Raiders 2.050 (29)
    26 Jacksonville Jaguars 1.805 (24)
    27 San Francisco 49ers -0.682 (26)
    28 St. Louis Rams -0.768 (27)
    29 Cincinnati Bengals -1.114 (28)
    30 Seattle Seahawks -1.773 (30)
    31 Kansas City Chiefs -2.595 (31)
    32 Detroit Lions -6.773 (32)

Nice work His'n. I can't really disagree with it. That formula you have is working pretty damn well.

His'n's Final Record and Playoff Projections

Washington and Green Bay dropped out of the NFC playoff projections and Baltimore has replaced New England in the AFC.

Based purely on the impossibility that there will be no upsets in the last 5 weeks, if every team with more "power points" won every game every week, this is how the playoff picture would shape up:

    AFC EAST
    *NYJ 13-3
    NE 10-6
    MIA 10-6
    BUF 7-9

    AFC NORTH
    *PIT 12-4
    *BAL 11-5
    CLE 5-11
    CIN 2-13-1

    AFC SOUTH
    *TEN 15-1
    *IND 11-5
    HOU 6-10
    JAX 4-12

    AFC WEST
    *DEN 9-7
    SD 6-10
    OAK 4-12
    KC 1-15

    NFC EAST
    *NYG 15-1
    WAS 10-6
    DAL 9-7
    PHI 6-9-1

    NFC NORTH
    *CHI 9-7
    GB 8-8
    MIN 8-8
    DET 0-16

    NFC SOUTH
    *TB 12-4
    *CAR 11-5
    *ATL 11-5
    NO 8-8

    NFC WEST
    *ARI 12-4
    SF 4-12
    STL 3-13
    SEA 2-14

    AFC
    1 TEN
    2 NYJ
    3 PIT
    4 DEN
    Wild Card
    5 IND
    6 BAL

    NFC
    1 NYG
    2 TB
    3 ARI
    4 CHI
    Wild Card
    5 CAR
    6 ATL

Ugh im sorry man, nobody should have to deal with that. At least the Giants are likeable and you root for them when in presence of Jests fans.

And amen on the Pats, is there a more unlikeable 1-2 punch than the Pats and Jests right now?

It's just predictable of New York sports narcissism. The Giants have been playing great, and as soon as the Jets win one big game they want to jump 8 weeks into the future and imagine themselves as the center of the sports world. Completely forgetting how much can change in 8 weeks. 8 Weeks ago the Jets were 1-2.

Just looking at the playoff predictions and surprised I hadn't noticed this before.

It was bad enough when the Dolphins missed the playoffs at 10-6 due to tie-breakers following the 2003 season. But they may do it again and to make matters worse they could be one of 3 or more teams that go 10-6 this year and don't make the playoffs because a 9-7 or possibly 8-8 division champ takes their spot. I currently project both Denver and Chicago to make the playoffs at 9-7 due to winning their division, while also projecting Miami, New England, and Washington to miss the playoffs at 10-6.

This would certainly prompt a controversy and a potential rules change. Especially considering the fact that both Miami and New England dominated in their games against Denver.

This could happen in both the AFC and NFC this year actually, with up to 5-6 teams missing the cut for a lesser rated team. It has happened a few times in the past years as well.
IMO the NFL really needs to drop the divisional crap and go to best record for playoff seeding. Divisional games will be used to help scheduling and promote rivalry, and to be used a tie breaker, but not as the initial determinant for a spot.
How anyone can rationalize a better team being left out because of artificial boundaries is ludicrious.
