To me, there is nothing more futile than a power rankings list. You get excited about ranking the top 10 maybe, but then you stop caring until you can rank the bottom 2 or 3 teams. I've been using, and constantly tweaking, a power ranking formula for the past few years to help me in my office pool. Basically I wanted to help myself look past the record and reputation of a team and place a little more value on the strength of their opponents. Rank - Team - Power points 1 New York Jets 4.000 Hate to see them up here, but they've covered the spread and beat two teams that won their other game. Honestly, living here in New York, there is truly nothing better to watch than early season hype over the Jets. 2 San Francisco 49ers 4.000 3 New York Giants 3.750 4 Baltimore Ravens 3.500 5 New Orleans Saints 3.500 6 Denver Broncos 3.000 7 Minnesota Vikings 3.000 8 Atlanta Falcons 2.500 9 Cincinnati Bengals 2.250 10 Indianapolis Colts 2.250 11 Chicago Bears 1.500 12 New England Patriots 1.500 13 San Diego Chargers 1.500 14 Arizona Cardinals 1.250 15 Dallas Cowboys 1.250 16 Houston Texans 1.250 17 Philadelphia Eagles 1.250 18 Seattle Seahawks 1.250 19 Washington Redskins 1.250 20 Green Bay Packers 1.000 21 Buffalo Bills 0.750 22 Oakland Raiders 0.750 23 Pittsburgh Steelers 0.250 24 Cleveland Browns 0.000 25 Detroit Lions 0.000 26 Miami Dolphins 0.000 2 losses against teams otherwise unbeaten, keep your chin up fellow Dolphin fans. You know the Dolphins could just as easily be 2-0 right now. 27 Jacksonville Jaguars -0.500 28 Carolina Panthers -0.750 29 Kansas City Chiefs -0.750 30 St. Louis Rams -1.250 31 Tennessee Titans -1.250 32 Tampa Bay Buccaneers -1.500
