Yes! Thanks to the Jews, the Raiders will be wearing their black jerseys for a 1:00 kickoff in 100*+ weather! In all seriousness, we now have 2 September 1:00 home games. If we lose these games, I'll shut up about our stupid owner requesting no September 1:00 home games.
We sometimes practice in a bubble. And yes, I remember last year's home opener. It was hot and our team was out of shape. Hopefully, these guys can learn from their mistakes.
Something definitely changed up top. I don't know if it's Ross changing his mind, listening to the fans, or maybe Joe Philbin's input. The Dolphins have specifically sought to reduce and/or eliminate entirely those September 1pm home games. Steve Ross has admitted it. He says fans don't want to come when it's so hot. Now suddenly we've got two 1pm games schedule through mid-October, and a 4pm home game in September, and even that one 4pm game is now being rescheduled for 1pm. There has definitely been a change of mindset.
It's because of rosh Hashanna, which starts at sundown. If not for the holiday, the game would've stayed at 4:15.
There's only a couple football cities where that Holiday would make a dent in attendance. New York and Miami.
Happens all the time http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/19/nfl-moves-up-raiders-dolphins-week-2-kickoff/ .
Perhaps, but it's an inconvenience to enough of your customer base that it's not worth starting at the later time.
Good, to me, the "W" is the thing, if we beat the Texans for the first time, that is a pretty good vindicator for moving to pm games. Though Houston is hot and muggy as well, so it is not a huge edge but I'd like to see them at least try.
There's a new coaching staff and no lockout... Are you really suggesting our players are going to be out of shape during the week one game?
You guys are suffering memory loss. Ross pretty much admitted that moving games to 4:15pm was a mistake back in January. So it's no surprise that they only had 1 4:15pm start (and now none).
You need to re-read my post. While we were worn down at night, the Pats didn't have any issues with the heat. The lockout had nothing to do with it, none what so ever.
There was that one interview with Philbin in which he addressed the issue of the practice bubble. It was my understanding practicing in that bubble wasn't going to be common as it had in the past....that Philbin wanted the team prepared for all conditions...to include the extreme heat and humidity of Miami. At least that's what I took out of that interview with him (Damn, who was interviewing him? A radio interview...just can't remember who it was)
Yeah I was just gonna say that, I believe it was with the Finsiders. I like that mentality, probly thought this after watching tape of the New England game where Vontae was off the field half the time.
Only time it should be used is during severe weather. There is no reward practice in the bubble. We gain ZERO advantage by practicing in a bubble on a hot humid day. We gain zero advantage by rewarding the players by letting them practice in the bubble. Want to reward the players? Take them out for ice cream after practice. They are getting paid millions of dollars to be the best they can be and gain a competitive advantage. Practicing in the bubble while it is a beautiful day outside takes away that advantage.
