D wasn"t hot but the O put up a whole 10 points. The O needs to keep the D off the field alot more. Left me with a sick feeling in my gut today
What in the world makes you think Jared Odrick, who was our starter, is going to be a bust? He was playing lights out before he was injured.
This is true, but when a defense gives up 146 yards rushing, they're not helping themselves get off the field either.
I know Sean Smith will get a lot of crap for dropping that pick 6 and it's well deserved but other than that he pretty much shut out Boldin and whoever he covered except for 1 catch.
Gotta love the over reaction. Odrick was ends up starting for us so what makes him a bust after one game? The fact he got hurt?
umm what? We got Misi because we traded down from 12 to 28 IIRC... and got that 2nd round pick in return, that got us Misi... we couldn't have got Thomas AND Misi...
Bell and Clemons are missing tackles. That is obvious. Any Draft gurus out there can tell be about any good FS of SS for us? And im being serious.
well to be fair... you can't make that call just like I can't... season is 8 games thru... lets have this discussion 2.5 years from now.
I don't believe he was saying that... but if he was that's not a true comparison. Why take Odrick out of the equation? Because he's hurt?? er no...
for a rookie... what I saw of him (preseason / Bills, not to mention his senior bowl play) showed me more than two guys at that early stage of their careers in Langford and Merling. Langford is a beast... we get Odrick back healthy and then Soliai at the nose... that's a Dline you build a defense around.
I'm still wondering what it takes to get us to cover running backs. we haven't been able to cover a RB in the passing game since the AFC Championship game vs. the Bills when Thurman Thomas was catching center screens all over us. It's like 17 years of us totally unable to cover RBs
it was a bad game by the 'D' ..... but it isn't going to improve until we improve our LBs .... plain and simple ... While Dansby is probably overpaid, he is much better than Crowder - who doesn't do much besides run his mouth. Maybe Misi can move inside ... i'm pretty sure he can be at least as good as CC in the middle. But we are still missing the game changing OLB .... Wake is Wake - a tremendous pass rusher. But we continue to get killed by TEs, screens, short over the middle and RB releases either in the flat or in the middle ... all LB responsibilities ... all continuously failing -- I do believe that Edds going down really hurt us here as we just don't have anyone else ..... Vontae had a terrible day .... both with lame tackle attempts and getting absolutely schooled by an old man ... Sapp is still no value added -- and fail to see why he is still around. on 'O' ... just terrible play calling in the 2d half and poor execution ... 1 bad throw by Henne (and even that was catchable by Bess) ... i just get the feeling from the way the offense plays -- that it always feels there'll be another play ... the just don't play with desire on every play.
Exactly! That's on the coaches not letting our players do what they do best. Send Wake after the QB EVERY PLAY...ala Freeny & Mathis..if he finds a running back on the way to the QB then great!
Def was atrocious today. Does anyone else realize we give up points on oppisition's first possession? Cinn and balt haven't scored tds on first possession this year until they played us. I don't blame nolan, I blame sparano. He doesn't like the blitz so he prob has nolans hands tied. He gave the players off last tuesday because we beat cincy. Bad move and it showed in our horrible tackling. I also don't like sparano going nuts after a fg. Team plays it too conservative on both sides of the ball and that's sparanos fault. Vontae was horrible today, couldn't stay with a 38yr old wr. We will prob end 8-8 and get a decent pick in draft.
And you've...divined Tony Sparano's defensive philosophy...from where? Nolan isn't nearly the blitz-heavy coordinator people somehow fooled themselves into thinking he was. So far this year per PFF the Dolphins have averaged 17.6 non-DL/OLB pass rushers per game. Last year in Denver, it was 20 per game.
2nd bad defensive outing out of 8 games. i wouldnt worry about it. we just sucked today. i expect us to bounce back strong defensively next week
I think it will ultimately be the leg injury that rears it's ugly head through his career. It's my opinion. Has nothing to do with it but we had other needs. The fact that Odrick couldn't overcome the injury this season and get back on the field tells a lot to me.
defense played up to expectations most of the game unfortunately, so did our offense had the promise of Henne finally been realized we would have won the game & been poised to make a run on the season
The scary thing is this is the second week in a row of the D missing tackles. I'm going to go bang my head against the wall.
Ok, so Im a very optimistic fan. I would say one of the more optimistic fans, however after today... Can some one teach our corners how to hang on to the ball. How many picks have we failed to hang on to??? Think in the past 3 games. Game changing moments done. One possible pick actually gave the Bengals a TD, remember? Not a Henna hater, but seriously?!?!?!? What happened to some of the longer plays that he attempted last season. The dude can not throw a pass in stride, thats why Marshall cant get any yards after catch, is that not why we got him. The million dollar answer to why we did not get Moss, WE NEED SOMEONE THAT CAN THROW TO HIM!!!!! Not sure what can be done there, I mean with our luck we let him go and he becomes the next Drew Bress. One good thing is that our defensive players will not be getting fined any time soon. The cant even tackle so no need to worry about rough / unsportmanlike hits. They will need to learn how to tackle first. I would not blame anyone if they forget the Dolphins and simply start following The Heat. At this point watching MLS games might be better.
This might possibly be the most ridiculous statement ever spilled onto the world wide web canvas. What about Ronnies drop. Hennes promise was realized on that play and Brown pooped his pants. That would have kept a big drive alive. Did you watch the game or the highlights
atleast killer made it known it was his opinion.....23rd posts a bunch of stupid **** as if its fact....
