QB David Garrard sputtered through the first two series, but then orchestrated a nine-play, 78-yard touchdown drive.

Rookie DE Quentin Groves looked good in his debut. DE Mkristo Bruce notched 2.5 sacks.

WR Matt Jones continues to potentially save his skin by catching three pases for 37 yards.

    Denver Broncos

LB Boss Bailey suffered a sprained ankle on the second defensive snap; X-rays were negative but an MRI is coming.

RT Ryan Harris drew four penalties.

QB Jay Cutler played only two series, but the starting offensive line put in an entire half of work.

Cutler led the offense on a 12-play, 74-yard touchdown drive in his second series.

And Cutler completed 8 of 10 passes, for 59 yards, and he ran 15 yards for a touchdown

Rookie CB Antoine Cason looked good, too.

Jacob Hester finished with 13 carries for 49 yards.

The Chargers’ starting offensive line struggled against the Cowboys’ first-team defense.

QB Philip Rivers completed 5 of 6 passes for 54 yards.

First-round RB Chris Johnson showed off his speed with a 66-yard touchdown run. Untouched.

“I didn’t blink, I saw it,” TE Alge Crumpler said of Johnson’s run. “Everybody else looked like they were running for their lives and he was just so smooth.

DT Jason Jones was the only rookie who started for the Titans, and his performance included tackling RB Brian Leonard for a three-yard loss.

LB Keith Bulluck picked off a pass and ran it in for a score.

DE Jevon Kearse made his first appearance with the Titans since 2003; he made no tackles. (But at least he didn’t get hurt.)
