I have a buddy that is a Saints fan. I told him I'd like to punch somebody in the nose for making the Patriots even better. Who do we put on this guy? He's a monster.
The New England Patriots added a speedy wide receiver this offseason in Brandin Cooks, who ran a 4.33s 40 yard dash at his combine back in 2014. And while Cooks isn’t the fastest receiver that QB Tom Brady has had the fortune to throw to, he adds a home run element to the offense with more versatility than Chris Hogan.

Ugh. We HAVE to win the division this year. So we better freaking figure it out. What's the plan?

I think a downfield WR is less of a threat than their slot WRs because we cant get to Brady on the quick throws

So don't assume he's going to only be a deep threat. The Patriots like to throw quick to their perimeter WRs as well. Edelman is known as their slot guy (which is actually Amendola) but before last year, he didn't even run 50% of his routes from the slot. He was in the 40s% area.
So that actually makes it tough for our DBs if a guy like Cooks can catch quick passes or can burn you deep.
The Falcons successfully clogged the middle against the Patriots but Belichick adjusted, and they started to throw more to Hogan and Malcom Mitchell in the SB. He's basically going to do whatever and adjust to any strategy.
EDIT: Just clicked your link. I guess the article agrees with me:

You see now you are talking about 7 step stepbacks and having this open up, which at 40, will have Brady take more hits. Challenge accepted

Our defensive line has to get pressure on Brady QUICKLY, containing him in the pocket and collapsing that pocket just as quickly

The good news is that it's the same problem we've had in recent years (excluding last season)...it takes time to set up a deep strike. With our front seven crashing down, you'd hope that the big play isn't there very often.Tin Indian likes this. -
Pretty sure Philbs and Coyle would put Phillip Wheeler on him.

It's a matter of execution and pressure. Hopefully Matt Burke is gearing up our defense for the task that lies ahead. -
I know danmarino is once again gonna call me a brady lover, but this article popped up on ESPN

Since my first three or four draft picks every year end up hurt and out for multiple games if not the season I plan on stopping him by drafting him first round. I may go Brady in the second. And then pick their D and Gronk and we'll win for sure.
That and I'd set him up to have a business meeting with Mr Jones. A memorable one.KeyFin likes this. -

I'm hoping Wake and Harris (penciling him in as a day one starter based on what I read about him as a Dolphin so far) can get the heat on Brady with Suh coming up the center. I mean we know JT gave him total fits (wasn't there one game where Brady only threw for like 27 yes or something against us because mostly JT)? Anyways, JT is training Harris so hopefully he'll spend oodles of time specifically on our favorite Patriots Hair Plug cry baby and how to aggravate him. If we can get the pressure on him he gets flustered but we gotta get a lot of dirt on that jersey.
Why don't we just have JT be the damned D line Czar? Don't know who that coach is but I'm sure he wouldn't mind the help. On that note, why not bring in ZT as the LB Czar?
TO me the problem ends up being the amount of good players we have to cover. Just in their base O Amendola, Ellerman, Gronk and Cooks will be out there. I don't know the whole Pats roster but that doesn't even have Hogan being used. Tankersley better be a baller because we'll need him in the secondary rotation big time. -
JT was really one of the greatest of all time, not just on the Dolphins, and not just this era.Rickysabeast and Puka-head like this. -
besides Randy Moss Monster years back then, every WR in NE suffers, Cooks is also pretty inconsistent since he entered the league under 50 yards in 6 games last year again
