Ideally for a 4th or less, but I'd probably even go to a 3rd with how bad the rest of our corp is.

Ya, we could play the wait and see game if he gets cut, but you know the odds of him not getting picked up by another team are really slim.

I know Ireland isn't seeing any 1s, 2s, or 3s out there so here's hoping he pulls the trigger soon.

Tannehill has shown plenty, get that man some ammo.

If he gets cut, would he be on the waiver wire?

I don't think he's in danger of being cut, it's just that they have so many options up there already that they could afford to trade him.

I'd rather trade a third and Jared Odrick for Greg Jennings. Jones was a free agent this offseason. Why did we not even bring him in for a visit?

James Jones? The guy that drops half of his opportunities?

No thanks. I mean, I would take him for a lower pick, but he has the same problem most of our other weapons have, serious case of dropsies

As long as we're making Madden trades we might as well shoot for Megatron for Reggie Bush and a 2nd.

We've been down this road before. He's got good hands it's more of a consistency problem.

That and his athleticism is something we don't have in our WR group.

Btw, where the **** was Hogan last night? You'd think with every other WR not named Bess ****ting the bed they'd of given Hogan a shot.

I honestly don't think it's a Madden trade... it benefits both teams. Jennings is what 29? He's in the last year of his contract. The Packers are ready to move on from him in that they have great depth. They have prepared for this eventuality. I don't think they'll resign him next offseason. May as well get something in return for him now and upgrade your defensive front which was a huge liability last year. You add Odrick to that group, in an odd man front, and you've done that. Odrick is not a defensive end for us in this even man front. That's not his position. We're fairly deep at defensive tackle, probably the deepest position on the team (maybe behind qb and rb). Adding the third rounder evens up the trade IMO.

I just can't see them doing that. Odrick doesn't have that kind of clout around the league and they'd probably laugh at only a 3rd for Jennings.

Doesn't Jennings have a pretty big contract too? He's not the kind of player I'd want to be locked up to long-term either.

The point remains. He drops a good amount of balls. And its not a weak point. I couldn't care any less whether its his hands or his concentration, I care that he drops passes.

I have watched Borel and Gurley in some of their preseason games for the Packers. They are probably not any better than some of our young guys like Matthew and Fuller. Borel is used in the return game and both of these guys are pretty tall. And after a night to think about it I still can't justify Naanee on this roster.

It would be a good option at this point, for sure. I think there's got to be something preventing it if it hasn't happened at this point, maybe?

I don't believe he was a free agent and everything I've seen has him finishing a 4-year deal next offseason.

He also catches passes that nobody else on this roster has the skill to bring in, even Bess. That point also remains.

Jones is a vested veteran anyway. He'd not go through the waiver process at this time of year would he?

And? So would Burress. Look, I said I would take him. But giving up a 3rd rounder for someone elses #4, who has the same issues everyone complained about with Marshall, who is 10 times the wideout James Jones is, is ridiculous.

thats not really an improvement for such a nice pick. maybe a marginal improvement for a short term fix, still a terrible idea.

sounds like the lamar gordon trade.

lol I doubt that. That's why so many teams are lining up for Burress right? Saying he has the same issues as Marshall is what's ridiculous.

I think people over-value picks. I bet we'd get more out of the 3rd we'd give up for Jones than we're getting out of Egnew this year.

Jennings has $3.8m base left on his contract and then is a free agent next year. (only $200k more than Fasano but I digress). Jones has $2.5m and $3.15m bases next two years.

That's def not as bad as I thought. I wonder how much money he's looking for in the new deal though.

I still can't see either side wanting him to leave GB.

make no mistake, he'd want more money to sign long term with us. But probably less than what we were paying Marshall. ($9.1m, $9.3m, $9.3m bases next three years). I would go in the $6 to $7.5m base range, but that's just me :wink2:

And heres 2011....would you like to continue to think Jones didnt have the same issues as Marshall. Half the player, with the same problem.

    Albeit, better person. But....my point.....remains

lol Really? One is a FA and could've been signed at any time for peanuts and nobody has and the other is still holding a 4th WR spot in one of the deepest WR corps in the league.

Yea, Marshall's only issue is his drops  Did you write that with a straight face?

All ive been talking about is drops this entire time. I said people clowned on Marshall because of his drops and yet want someone that has the same issues, obviously referring to his drops. Im sorry you didn't catch that.
