How Wilson manufactures NFL game footballs

Interesting thing about this Alen, Gino Toretta was asked about the difference between NCCA footballs vs NFL footballs and the only difference is..different stripes are painted on the ball.

 

I assumed the College ball was a tad thicker? Looks it anyhow.

 

It's true that the NCAA and NFL footballs are the same regulation. However, there is a tolerance afforded when making the balls. For example, and according to Wilson, the Short Circumference ranges between 20 3/4"- 21 1/4". There are different models and patterns of the Wilson football that fall under these specifications. I believe that the college ranks uses a different model than the NFL and that is built to the smallest specifications and thus makes it easier to throw/control.
