Looking at numbers here and comparing Carolina's defense to that of the Cincinnati Bengals. One of the big topics in this thread is pass rush. The data I'm using comes from PFF's grading in each category: Carolina Panthers pass rush has a grade of 1.2. The Cincinnati Bengals pass rush is grade a -3.2. So, Carolina has a slight edge here. For comparison sake, Miami's pass rush has a 38.0 grade. That's 2nd in the league to Seattle's 46.8 grade. Both Carolina and Cincinnati are middle of the road pass rushing teams according to this. Run Defense: The Carolina Panthers have a 4.4 grade in run defense. The Cincinnati Bengals have a 35.0 grade. There is really no comparison here. Cincinnati has a much better run defense according to the numbers. Miami's run defense has a 9.4 grade for comparison.
You can when he is more consistent Vernon had 3.5 sacks last season Hardy had 11... Check out pressures per pass play percentage and you will see what I mean.
I absolutely agree that this is a tough matchup for the offensive line; therefore, I think we need to run a two TE single back set. I think this would do the best job of neutralizing the strength of the Panthers D. I think Wallace and Hartline can win match ups out of this set. On defense, I would spy Cam with Jordan on 3rd down. I think he has a chance to prevent big runs by Cam.
That's rich considering how often they have beaten you over the years.... Let me spell it out for you the Patriots... for the first time this season have all there offensive weapons back.... scored 20 points you are not the Patriots.... Tannehill does not get the same respect Brady does.... and any team that rushes for 2 yards on Tampa does not have the right to say a thing about our ground game.
By the way, Hardy had 3 sacks his rookie year. Vernon had 3.5. Hardy had 4 sacks in year 2 and Vernon already has 5.5. Just thought I'd point that out since the Panthers fans want to disrespect our pass rushing ability. Is Vernon better than Hardy right now? No. However, I will take Wake over either of their rushers.
Another way to look at the comparison. Carolina generates a pressure on 11% of the total pass rush snaps they have had. Cincinnati generates a pressure on 11% of the total pass rush snaps they have had.
Miami is going to have to play better offensively than they did against Cincinnati if they want to win. They were 3/14 on third-downs against the Bengals.
"Starting at left end, from the university of Miami, one of the leagues premiere pass rushers, #50, Olivier verrrrrrrrrrrnoooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn"
A rookie? so what and Hardy was a sixth round pick and WAS not a starter as a rookie... Also you LOST to the Buccaneers two weeks ago that makes you a joke...
Next time you come to another teams board don't try to fake how you and your friend wanna play..it was very transparent.. Spellcheckin....weak *** sh&$...thought so.. I'm not gonna talk junk against a panther team, were not good enough at this point to have that kind of bravado so it would be homerism at its finest, but please don't try to convince me your cheating, lying, conceited, big mouth Qb is the most humble person you know...lol...that's some serious homerism right there..
" sacks are a small part of the equation" Advanced stats would tell you Cam wake wants you to be his agent.
Eh, don't care enough to look it up. I love Vernon and think he's a good young player. He's only in his second year and he's real young. He's still learning. His run defense needs work but overall I like his progress a lot. I just think it's funny this Panthers fan is trying to argue a second year player against a guy in his 4th year.
Just glad he's not the Qb of the team I root for, there are many qb's I would take over cam newton..good thing the guy can run I tell ya.
Cam is a great qb, don't like his attitude, but he is just more open with how he is, he isn't anymore arrogant than most elite qbs, they just take more care to disguise it
Lets not sleep on the Panthers. Their running game is elite, their defense is good and Cam is very good, enough to beat you with his arm. The offense has to be ready to go blow for blow or it will be a long day
Who exactly would you take over Cam Newton??? No matter what you think about his personality or any other defining feature, he is a very good qb at this point in his career. As long as his head stays just small enough so that he is inspired to improve.
Funny how a pre game discussion turns into an argument about problem players and locker room trouble.. Cogs problems aren't isolated, I seem to remember steve smith breaking a teammates jaw in practice, or Jarrett driving all over town drunk as hell and what about ray ray... Every team has its problem players and it shouldn't bleed into pre game discussions on game plans and stat talks.. None of them players besides smitty are on these teams so why even bring it up...
Someone makes a harmless jab and you want to bring up someone who murdered an innocent mother and its unborn child? Real. ****ing. Class.
Harmless jab, he called the guy a racist redneck... I was jes pointing out every team has its problems and to single us out cuz our news is fresh isn't right..
