This isn't about Kraft or even the Pats organization- it's about Belichick having absolute power to do what he's done best. But then you have Brady on the wrong side of 40 getting their next franchise QB traded, and a lot of players starting to opt out of "The Patriot Way" that's made the team so successful under Belichick. I don't think he could care less about money, fame or anything else- he just wants to win. But now your franchise QB has chased off your next franchise QB by stabbing you in the back. Your players are refusing to see team doctors because "Brady said so" and a lot of **** is starting to boil over- I just don't see Belichick staying under these circumstances when he has nothing left to prove. Here's the big thing- if Belichick did retire and Brady looked average next season, it proves BB was right about EVERYTHING and cements his place as one of the best of all-time. The guy has such a massive ego, I don't think he takes too much more crap. And it's all Brady's fault. Remember, there are three alpha alpha males that are used to having complete control- I really think he walks IF they lose in the playoffs (preferably before the Super Bowl). It's the perfect storm if someone can step up like the Dolphins did and humiliate them.
how many coaching contracts ever last til the end and get an extension? the length doesn't matter, the money guaranteed and if he gets some ownership stake is what matters. either way hes worth it imagine what BB would get if he left for a 3 year term lol id take him in Miami at 20 mill a yr hahahahaha
Anyone seriously doubt that if Brady had retired this season and Jimmy G had taken over, that the Pats still win 11-12 games? Kraft forcing the trade to San Fran is great news for Miami and the rest of the AFCEast. The best case scenario is that Billicheat retires after this season (after a playoff loss), Brady drops off that QB cliff in 2018 as the Pats adjust to McDaniels as head coach (given the job so Brady does not have to learn a new system) AND there is no young QB ready to take over and continue the winning in New England. Uh, and Tanny returns and thrives under Gase in 2018, while the OL finally gets fixed and the defense is 'good enough' to win the division. I did say 'best case scenario'.
Marvin Lewis’ contract has lasted something like 40+ years now... or at least that’s how it feels lmao I feel bad for Cincy
Don't buy it. Made up or exaggerated story whipped up by media to make it seem awe inspiring when they win another superbowl. The NFL is sick of seeing the Patriots win so they need to whip up fake drama like this to help sell it.
Im not on a Jimmy Garrapolo bandwagon but i do think he is a good qb. My point is that Brady has forced the trade of the Pats heir apparent over Bills obvious objection. They may well be heading down the path weve been stuck on for 17 years, trying to replace a Great Coach AND Great QB within a few years of each other. It hasnt worked out very well for us.
If the NFL was sick of letting them win they'd not allow them to cheat. I think the NFL loves it either way. People will watch the Pats because they are hoping to see them lose. No other team in the NFL can draw non-fans like the Pats.
If you guys watched the 2nd Pats/Fins game (not directing this just to you but to everyone), Brady looked like a defeated, washed-up quarterback. He was so desperate to get the ball out fast that he was throwing it in the dirt, and I would be AMAZED if their playoff opponents don't study our film and run the same defensive style. If you knock Brady on his butt a few times, he's going to hand you the game on a silver platter. And remember, Brady is mic'd up to Ernie Adams for insights on what the defense is doing. If you lose Belicheat, you lose his lip reader. And I think everything comes tumbling down after that.
It looks like it is all about the money. Consider these 5 FACTS: 1) $20,500,000 for Brady's contract for 2018. 2) Brady has routinely restructured his deal, helping the team with its salary cap. 3) $17,000,000 to $18,000,000 offered to Garoppolo for 2018, which he turned down. 4) The Patriots have a long history of replacing older, high priced players. 5) Garoppolo gets traded to San Francisco. Conclusions: 1) There is too much money involved to keep both QB's. 2) Brady was likely to be replaced by Belichick, based on his standard method for replacing older players. 3) Kraft had to like Brady's value, salary cap and consistent restructuring, which helped the team. 4) Kraft considers Belichick guidelines and applies them to Belichick. 5) Belichick shows Kraft he has flexibility, by deciding to keep Brady and trades Garoppolo. 6) Billicheck takes the first offer he can get, even though it is less than Garoppolo is worth. 7) Billicheck didn't try to get back at Kraft with the less than optimal trade, but doesn't really mind because he still has his job and because he saw something this year that indicates Brady's play is falling off. 8) Garoppolo is happy to get traded and be some teams franchise QB. That is why he turned down the Patriots offer in the first place. 9) Look for the Patriots to draft a QB. Makes sense to me!
