Off topic, but what's Hugh Freeze up to today?
I knew you would get that in today. I don't care for him, but I am sad after listening to his wife talk about charities yesterday on radio less than an hour before all that stuff broke. I feel bad for her.
It's going to be "hard" to "erect" that program after this.
You are enjoying the pain of the Ol Miss program far too much!
Yes it will. As you know I am a Georgia graduate, and there was bad blood over the Tunsil signing between UGA and the Rebels, between Richt and Freeze. I found that odd given both men were well professed in their Christianity.
The first thought I had when I saw the story was how this was going to make my tasks as a pastor harder. When a Christian exposes his feet of clay in such a public way it makes it harder for the rest of us. I am very sorry that Freeze's demons overcame him.
Surprised it took Keith so long to be honest. I checked multiple times yesterday for him.
Social media had a field day on Freeze. But my honest reaction to people who have been humbled is to hold a hand out and help them up. I may be critical during their downfall, but I am forever tempered by my own moments of humility and grace, as we all should be.
With a name like that, he can always star in the next Batman movie.
The KB Keith right? Not the me Keith? It is rare for me to have to ask that question. I haven't known that many "Keith's".
I found it par for the course personally.
Why would you need to insult me? How many people do you know 2 or 3 hundred million? There are 2 billion Christians in the world so over half of them are perverts? Think about what you are saying!
Now I come from a Christian tradition, Lutheranism, which understands that Christians are always "Saint and Sinner". Every Christian may be a saint, a baptized child of God, but we are also, always a sinner. Sin is not just what we do it is the nature of who we are. I understand that and while I may not have the same demons that Hugh Freeze has/had, mine are just as real to me.
Ah, sorry, I was referring to KB.
Over react much or just looking for a reason to get on a soap box?
C'mon Den, "over-react?" You had just said that from your experience, Christians were perverts or something of that sort. I spend my life centered on my faith. I have not made it a secret here. Do you think I'm a pervert, how about Raul?, or RevRick?
You expressed a bigoted statement about people of faith and I called you on it. Had you made an insulting remark about people of color, women, LBGT's, or some other group, I would have called you on those as well.
We've been on this board together for nearly ten years. How often have you seen me make a response like this? To suggest I was looking for a chance to mount my soap box simply suggests you don't like being called for being a bigot. Don't project your mistake onto me!
As a science practitioner (not a Christian scientist, but a evidence based professional) I prefer to weigh every situation on its own merit. What am I saying? I want to be careful about over generalizing.
Thank you. Have there been some very public examples of people of faith doing horrific things? Of course. And because their actions are so at odds with their words and proclamations the hypocrisy is most striking. I am simply asking everyone not to generalize about Christianity, or for that matter any group!
I never called him a pervert, you did Pastor congrats on passing judgement on a man based on an allegation. A perfect example of what's wrong with Christianity. I guess Mr Clean is a pervert too because he enjoys lesbian porn. I love how you have such insight on my remark and know what's in my heart. Amazing you just shown us all what a hypocrite you are. Pray on that tonight. I responded to the bad blood remark and found nothing unusual based on college sports and Christians and yet you found a way to spin it into a self serving sermon for us all.
You made a generalization that in your experience Christians in college sports commit sex related offenses (since that is what Freeze was fired for). You can try and spin it all you want. You can blame me all you want. But you made the generalization and I called you for it. And I called such a generalization, bigotry!
Lee2000- "I found that odd given both men were well professed in their Christianity." (your highlighting)
Den54- "I found it par for the course personally."
Try and change the topic all you want but that was the exchange I found offensive.
I have said all I am going to say on this. Den, I don't know where in our time together you would find this need to attack Christianity but that is your right.
