It isn't predicted to hit Florida due to a front that is supposed to push it further south. Will most likely travel a little south and then enter the Gulf missing Florida.

 

That's a relief, but it's way too early to relax our guard. Stock up on Spam (I don't mean save my posts to your hard drive) and Vienna Sausages!

 

What an active season this is turning out to be.

 

That's just scary. Those poor folks in the Caribbean and god forbid that if follows up where ever Gustav ends up.

Anyone making the prediction of where Hana will end up hitting the U.S. is jumping the gun completely.

This thing will get pushed to a new position and it's a whole new ballgame as to where it goes from that point. No telling where she'll end up.

 

I move to the most hurricane "proof" area there is in Florida, and two storms in just a couple weeks :D

 

This one looks like it might come up into Augusta even. This will be my first one since I left Florida seven years ago.

 

Yeah, every time I check out the computer models the keep moving into our neck of the woods.

 

It looks like Sofla may be hit by Ike instead of Henne.

 

I heard on CNN that this is now a category 1 hurricane. Expected to be a category two as it goes up the east side of the coast line as shown in Byroan's posted path.

 

Here's the deal... South Florida has Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare and we won't really know until late in the daylight of Wednesday what Hanna will do. Here is what Dr. Masters has to say in his current hurricane blog

If you live in South Florida you need to be paying close attention, those north will have an extra day. The hurricane hunters found the CoC all over the place across a 5 hour mission. Here is mission 2 into Hanna, you can see how the CoC is everywhere.

Very early this morning all the modes were in N. Ga. or SC

 

...and NJ... between the Ocean and the Delaware River .... South Jersey could get slammed...

 

Well, Hanna is sliding further west and the "immediate" track extrapolates out to landfall south of Jacksonville... NOT the expected Carolina strike. Here is hurricane hunter mission 10, which is just concluding. Notice the vortex messages and where they are. I extrapolated the new track out and you can see where it falls. Hanna has dropped 5mb since 5am and is trying to get stronger. I am sure there will be more "wobble" to this track but I would be paying attention if I lived in Jacksonville, and crying if I lived in Melbourne. Those folks have had no relief from the huge amounts of rain over the last two weeks.



Here is the Melbourne Florida 248nm radar loop. I am thinking the eye is showing on the extreme right in the last few frames. Hanna is hauling butt right now.. 18 mph. If.. IF the latest track continues, Hanna is 10 hours from landfall just south of Jax.

Good news Joe.. from the last vortex position in the map already posted, Hanna has moved 56 miles due north. The new NN mission is underway and getting new info.
