Dolphins In Depth Basically he says we need to hope for more this year as next year we could be worse. He points to the 2005 Dolphins I also bring up the 2007 Browns and how they have regressed
I dont think its going to be that big of an issue... This team is only going to get better IMO... as well as we have performed this year, with what "little" we have, its pretty spectacular. Give this FO group another year to handpick free agents, and to get another solid draft class, this team is only going to improve. Sure next years schedule will be alot tougher, but this team will finally get what it needs this offseason... some stability, from one year into the next.
an unstable QB situation and braylon edward's regression helped lead to the browns downfall. im not worried about a browns type season next year
It's a good point. Even if we improve, other teams on our schedule could improve more. Add to that some bad breaks, injuries, etc. and we could end up worse next season. It's the NFL. That's what makes it fun. And that's why we need to cheer our guts out for this year's team to make the playoffs. It might not happen for us next year. (knocking on wood).
It's bunk IMO. If a team is going to win a championship they have to make calculated and successful moves that happen over a period of time to build such a team. Sure, a team can regress, it happens. THe teams that end up champions though don't regress. That's what we are expecting from this FO. THat this is a group that has the moxy to systematically build a championship team. I refuse to "wish" for a miracle from a team that clearly dosen't have a championship roster at this point rather than enjoying the steps this team is making towards becoming a serious contender. The mindset in this article is what leads the Daniel Snyders of the League towards bringing in a ton of high priced FA's and ignoring how you truly build a championship team. I'm not going to let myself think that this team needs to do more than they should be capable of. Why? Because if this is as good as we'll ever get under this regime then it will end up being considered yet another failure. I don't see that happening though because what I've seen leads me to believe that this crew really knows what they are doing in building a team. So I'll look forward to this team growing into a yearly contender while you guys pray for a miracle this year thinking we may never get back to success.
What I take out of it is we need to make that playoff push because it is a legitimate possibility that we make the playoffs this year and not next year We will be a better team next year but like people said (injuries, schedule) our record may be worse
Ah Armando can lick scrotum teams that regress and go up and down aren't properly built to begin with they lack the proper management. I am not worried about this team because I feel from the top down they are solid and they are making decisions based on the future of the team not the win now philosophy (see NY Jets) by bringing in a ton of overpriced free agents that will just be a year older, slower and higher priced next season unlike what Miami has done with young developing talent that will still be on the upswing next season as to the progression of their skills and none of them are so overpriced that we will have to come to the decision of "who do we cut because of salary cap reasons". Great philosophy, great coaching staff & developing players - there is no reason to think that Miami will fall victim to that trend.
I understand where you're coming from but I just can't agree with it. You want to make a playoff push every year in theory. Reality is that you gauge real missed opportunities by how strong your team is and whether you overachieve or underachieve. This team isn't that strong and they've already overachieved IMO. Because of that I won't see us not making the playoffs as a negative at all. This year was simply a good start to building a true contending team.
At the risk of backlash from the masses, I agree with Armando quite a bit... I am extremely disappointed with Ginn's performance this year, and I'm equally tired of the ridiculous comparisons to Marvin Harrison. Look at Eddie Royal, along with other rookies of the same size as Ginn, fearlessly tearing it up this year, while Ginn, in his second year, is consistently racing out of bounds or falling down to avoid contact. While I certainly do NOT want Ginn to get hurt and I want nothing more than for him to be successful, I am also sick all of the comments about how he needs to "protect himself "-- what if ALL players did that -- would we have anything other than zeros on the scoreboard??? Frankly, I'd like to make his money to catch a ball and fall down. OK, I'm done... let me have it, Ginn fans...
Miami has a quarterback. The 2006 Dolphins and the Browns this year do not. No let down next season, end of story. Nice try Armando.
Ted Ginn Jr. won't be the reason this team has problems in the future because I guarantee at the first sign that he's significantly hurting this team he will no longer be a Miami Dolphin I feel the current management has the brass marbles to toss him in a ditch if they feel they can better the team for it and I 100% would support that. The coaching staff & management has earned my respect enough that I for one trust most anything they do at this point because they are showing how their philosophy is already paying off.
The browns have a QB that was decent last year. Pennington has never had two good years in a row. What makes us so confident he can break that streak? Are we that lucky? I sure effing hope so. Up until now we've been terribly unlucky.
I'm sorry, you lost me comparing someone the Browns have at QB to Chad Pennington. I think Henne will be a good Quarterback. I think the team as a whole will continue to improve because Tony Sparano is a better coach than Nick Saban and Romeo crennel. I am not worried.
Yeah, I think the difference with our team's situation and any of those previously mentioned is the coaching situation. <3 Sparano & Parcells
Not that I'm necessarily a Ginn fan, but what light and fast wide receiver goes around actively seeking out contact?
A good deal of negativity on here for people speculating on next year. Truth is, until we go through free agency and the draft, we won't know how much further along we are. BUT for now, we are in the thick of a playoff race that sees no team that is significantly better than the next.
The reasoning behind the issues that the Jills and Browns have had is that they take advantage of a weaker schedule. The next year, when the schedule is a little tougher, they struggle. We don't know if that will happen to us next year, but it's likely to...
If we continue to roll, we will be competitive.. We play to our opponents levels, either up, or down, and that in of itself will keep us competitive..
