I don't understand why this needed to be it's own thread. No original thought here. That aside, I see Flynn as a guy who could go either way. He could be Kevin Kolb or he could be Matt Schaub. Nobody knows for sure. If Miami signs him I gotta believe Philbin is willing to hitch his NFL head coaching career to his success. In that case I'll be excited. I also won't cry if we don't.

 

Tom Brady was a 6th round pick who got a look late in year cause Bledsoe got hurt.

 

By that knowledge we shouldn't draft rookies because they never played in an NFL game. It's not like he flopped. 2nd career start and he blows a franchise record out of the water on a team that had favre and rodgers. No I'm not saying he is amazing but he has some credibility and knows the system we are trying to install in MIA.... Emphasis on trying... I also dont see the relevance with draft choice.. as someone said above me refer to tom Brady or Marino for example.

This all depends on the size of the contract he gets If he gets crazy money with only having played 2 games It's a horrible signing even If he ends up being great down the line. I just don't think you can throw money at a unproven player even if its a glaring need not a good way to do business that being said if he signs at reasonable money its worth the gamble. Then again lets be honest until they fill our holes at wr we have now no qb will work this year.

 

So why draft any players? They are unproven so they must be bad ideas.

There is a reason the nfl rookie pay scale got a major rework because it was a horrible system to pay massive money to unproven players. This is why the draft is set up better now you can get star prospect talent at a cheap even if they bust.

And let me get this straight, your supposed solution to our QB situation is keep moore and sign no one?........uh.

 

over the QBs we have to pick from in the draft NOW vs a record setting back up QB with only 2 Starts... thats is 2 more starts (with broken records and amazing QB stats) then the rookie and even less of a chance that he will flop vs the rookie. that is statistics.

You do realize that Flynn was sitting on the bench because Aaron Rogers was the starter, Just like Aaron Rogers rode the bench for three years while Brett Favre was starting, right? Does that indicate Flynn is a Franchise QB? No. Does that indicate Flynn is a bust? No, but it shows they saw something in him especially since they kept him over 2nd round pick Brian Brohm.

 

I have no problem with signing flynn however you just want to open the bank based on 1 game that is not a good formula to build your teams cap around. Flynn should get a 2-3 year deal and prove hes worth real money or its a Major gamble that can cripple our cap for years.

Fact of the matter is, 2 games in the NFL with the system WE ARE TRYING TO IMPLEMENT HERE WITH HIS OLD O/C seems ALL AROUND STATISTICALLY BETTER than drafting a rookie with nothing as of yet, especially with what is LEFT in the draft. And from the looks of it that is the direction they are going and i think its the smarter one.

Brady was a 7th round pick. Who else is there to be excited about after manning and Flynn sign with whoever? I dont understand how anyone could not be excited about him and think Matt Moore is the answer. What a joke. What more could you ask from Flynn besides what he's already done in 2 NFL games? You act like nobody has seen him play a game. People wonder if he can be consistent but they have no reason to believe he is inconsistent. We all know he's proven he can play. He just hasn't proven he can be consistent and that's only because he hasn't had a chance to prove that yet.

 

First of all, no one is "salivating" at the thought of signing Flynn. The Flynn supporters like the idea of him coming here and playing in the same system that he has shown success in his 2 previous starts. So, get your facts straight before you rant.

That's the key. If the Dolphins sign him it wil be because Philbin believes he can be a franchise type QB. Everything up to this point, as it is in every post/pre season, is speculation. At this point, if a fan likes Flynn or if a fan dislikes Flynn they are both right. So why sweat it? Eventually time will show who had it right. And even then it just means they GUESSED right. Whoopty-doo!

 

Want is probably better than need. although we obviously need a QB.

He fits in the system we are trying to make,..... period. Are you aware we got a new HC? if so, Do you know who he is?.... if you answered yes to one or both of those you shouldnt be asking any of these questions.

Another great point. Many great QB's were great due to their system and coaches. Does anyone here think Brady would be the QB he is today had he not of been drafted by the Patriots?

 

What reason? Why was Brady a 7th round draft pick? Why was Montana a 3rd round draft pick?

 

TBH.....More than likely yes.... Lol. but It helped. The system works for him and vice versa.

 

You see I'm not going to say one is better than the other. There is not enough Data to compare the two rightfully.
Miami pretty much made it clear they want a franchise QB that isn't Moore. So like it or not that's just the way it is. I liked Moore and was happy with a lot he did for us. But we did an entire staff overhaul... looks like we will be semi-doing it with players as well. Flynn has been in the system for 4 years. the system we are trying to bring here. TECHNICALLY Flynn knows OUR NEW system more than any dolphins player we have will, and hes not even on the team. If we bring him its because OUR coach. YOUR teams Coach, said its the right move. Period. Again.

 

Brady is not the reason the Pats have 3 Championships over the last 11 seasons. He's developed into a great QB because he's had the time and the system built around his strengths. Stability and time are what QB's need in order to become Hall of Fame QB's. Very rarely do you see a QB able to truly carry a team. Manning did that. Marino did that. Elway did that. A few others over the history of the NFL have done that. Brady has been a big part of their success, but he's not the main reason.

 

Pats with injured brady went like 11-5 or something. Lol

Brady was 199th overall. 32 x 6 = 192. If not for compensatory picks, Brady goes in the 7th round. Anyhow, it really doesn't matter. And again, if you don't like Flynn your opinion, right now, is correct. So is the opinion of someone who likes him. However, would you rather miss out on a "1 in a million" QB or snatch him up? And if the Dolphins get him it will be because Philbin thinks he's that 1 in a million. So why fret?

 

If his OC of 4 years said "No go" on this guy... we wouldn't have even picked up the phone....... I don't understand the confusion or anger over this lol
