I was just told by my Boss like an hour ago, that today is gonna be my last day on the job here.

It was kind of a bomb, especially since I was supposed to be able to stay on until I graduate after the first week of May.

I don't know. I think the Doctor who I do all my work with is going to go have a drink with me after I get my last reaction done today. We'll see if I can get anyone else to come too.

I don't know, this just sucks. I'll only be missing like $450, after taxes by getting let go early, but still.

It just sucks. Plain and simple.

Eh...it happens. Don't sweat it. It probably has more to do with the economy than you personally. Right now, a ton of people are losing their jobs.

It happens bro. Probaly a business decision bro, and since you were temp anyways......... you were just the easiest to let go. You are graduating anyways just relax finish school and start looking for a job in your field. Post your resume on monster, I got a ton of interviews off of that site.

Then you are set bro. Don't think oh they didn't like me or I sucked or anything, because like I said, it was probaly just because you were temporary in the first place and they wanted to save some money.

I know that is why, but it was still news, because I was told at the beginning of the year that I could work until May. I know it was nothing personal.

Lets see, I have been layed off X2, fired, company went bank rupt, and not to mention I have quit several jobs. My point is, just bounce back. It sucks, I always hated it. By the way, anyone have contacts in side the post office?

I was basically a chemist's assistant (only $19/hr), but I think my official job may have just been part time associate since I completed all my co-op terms.

More to do with the perception of the economy, rather than the economy itself. The economy is fine. The problem is that people themselves are doing okay, but think their neighbors aren't, therefore believe the economy is going bad.

that sucks bro. hopefully things work out for you. I know what its like though, the company I work for was bought out by another company, now theyre merging us together, and nobody really knows for sure who's safe and who isn't. its a pretty uncomfortable feeling, it makes focusing and doing your job a little difficult at times, thats for sure

:pity: No more classes, no more books, no more teachers dirty looks.

I need a break from school. I'll have been in college for 6 years upon graduation, counting all the post-secondary work I did. I'm already graduating with 30+ extra credits.

I might go back some time to get a masters, maybe a degree in business or law instead though. That'll be a ways down the line however.

Pete - I'm very sorry to hear this. My husband lost his job way back in April and still hasn't gotten a new one, so I know how you feel. Keep your chin up. I'll say a prayer for you.

sucks to hear they let you go, but now you can spend the extra time preparing yourself for your next job. New wardrobe (if you need it), moving, etc.

It is really tough times right now, prices rising, more and more people losing their jobs. Not too long ago a Ford Truck plant closed here locally, that created a lot of layoffs. Shipyards are cutting back laying off people.
Sorry to hear about your layoff but you will hit the ground running and you will find something better.

That's a tough break Pete. I was worried that this was going to be about your future job. Hopefully something else will pop up to ease things a bit until Oct.

then you'll be fine. it should be relatively easy to find part-time work for while you are in school... its the quality career jobs AFTER school that are harder to get into. If you already have one lined up Pete, then you are golden.

Well then you have NO excuses for not making the Weekend Draft Party then right?

Seriously though, tough break but take the next month to get your ducks in a row and hit the ground running!!!

Maybe you can contact the company that hired you back in October and let them know you will be available to them a month earlier. They may bring you on immediately then!

That's not really going to work. I still have to attend classes, and it'd be an hour commute one-way. Plus I am already starting 2 weeks before the other new hires so they aren't sure what I am even going to be doing before the official training classes begin.

Edit: And I will definitely be at the draft party. I assure you of that.
