Charles Robinson is reliable... but maybe his source is not. Apparently it comes from another nfl team who were in the running.

I just don't see how any team would want to trade for Watson right now.

Im not sold on Tua just yet but his training camp and preseason has been impressive this year… if he were to turn it around in Houston, and Deshaun Watson’s issues become more serious… im gonna need Flores, Grier and Ross out of Miami…

im not taking that chance… at this point you have to give Tua this season and next and then see if he’s your franchise quarterback or Marcus Mariota…

you dont trade away Tua for a guy who has major distractions in his background… and who may even end up in jail…

"The Dolphins, interested in the quarterback but wanting to mitigate the risk of Watson’s uncertain future, have so far resisted the idea of including the three first-round picks the Texans have requested.

The Texans, by the way, are so far not interested in including Dolphins current starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in a trade.

So where does that leave everyone?

Watson still wants to be traded.

The Texans are willing to trade him but their starting point virtually ignores the idea Watson is in legal jeopardy or could be suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, one league source told Outkick.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, remain open to acquiring Watson for the right price.

The Dolphins are willing to risk acquiring a quarterback who may not be available to them even this year because Watson is obviously very good and won’t turn 26 for another two weeks.

But, again, there is a limit for the Dolphins and so far they have not come sufficiently close to accepting Houston’s asking price.

Watson, it must be repeated, is facing 22 civil lawsuits and 10 criminal complaints from women who say he assaulted them sexually. The FBI, having already spoken with parties involved, is investigating, as is the Harris (Tex) County prosecutor.

The NFL season begins Sept. 12 for the Dolphins, Texans and Panthers."

Barry Jackson says the Dolphins are still very intrigued with acquiring Watson but have balked at Houston’s asking price. One person who interviewed for a job with the Dolphins says Grier talked excitedly about adding Watson eventually this year.

I don't know what to think about all of this. On one hand, it would be a heckuva acquisition and puts us solidly in Win Now mode. On the other hand, in spite of the inevitable suspension and possible addition to the commissioner's exempt list, trading starters plus high picks takes away from our depth and is bound to hurt us on one or both sides of the ball. I like Watson a lot but I can see how bringing him to south Florida would impact depth and chemistry. It's just the sort of move that could result in Grier's termination if it goes wrong.

Also, who put this story out two weeks before the season starts? This sure sounds like somebody in the Watson camp is trying to get Carolina or Denver to step up. Can't imagine the benefit Miami gains from leaking its interest in him.

Click to read the whole thread. It's not too long. According to this we're looking at nothing more than an attempt by the Texans to drum up business and the media just enjoying the clicks.

So let me get this straight...

    Deshaun Watson is facing:

22...TWENTY-TWO civil lawsuits for sexual assault
Possible criminal charges for said alleged sexual assault charges
An NFL investigation into said alleged sexual assault charges, which would result in at least a full season's suspension.

The Texans are wanting THREE 1st round and TWO 2nd round draft picks

And we're supposedly entertaining this trade?

If the Dolphins go with this trade, it'll be the STUPIDEST move this organization has EVER made since the disastrous loss of Csonka, Kiick and Warfield to the WFL. Potentially give away your future for a player that may not be able to play due to NFL suspension...that may not be able to play due to being in prison...that may not WANT to play to avoid having to pay millions in damages in the near 2 dozen civil lawsuits.

I don't care HOW talented or who you are...

    ***NO THANK YOU***

Nothing more than a 2nd round pick. I just want the leader of my team with Dehauns level of poor judgment If they don’t believe in Tua, they should have stayed put and selected a QB at #3 this year.

Im not a lawyer but IMO if he followed what Kobe did when he was accused of rape… this would be over with months ago after writing those checks..he messaged a bunch of instagram models “massage therapists” recklessly… i think he still gets suspended for putting himself in that position… and who knows what kind of punishment goodell gives him but there will definitely be time off the football field… at least 6 games

Not intending to steer off topic, but with the Texans being one of the worst, it makes you wonder who’s going to have the first draft pick in the 2022 NFL Draft…

    Jaguars
    Jets
    Texans

Two of those three are dumpster fires!

There is no way they are trading for Watson with all the legal problems on his head. This smacks of Watson and the Texans trying to shake up and get the trade market going again. Nothing more.

Ask yourself, other than due diligence, does this really sound like something Grier, Flores AND Ross would go for? With all of the baggage he currently has?

    I don't think so either.

IMO the Texans are most devoid of talent, have the worst coaching staff and have a front office that is utterly clueless with Easterby running things.

However, I would absolutely put the Lions in this suck category as well, and think they are strong in the running for the #2 pick (Texans at 1).

Playing Watson would only move the Texans down to the #2-4 spot in the 2022 draft. They are a lock for the #1 pick without him starting a game. Their only concern should be getting what they can for Watson and moving on.

I think Miami would make the trade for a first and a second rounder, and could move cap around to keep both Tua and Watson for 2021. The Texans must still be asking for at least TWO firsts and a second or the deal would have been done by now.

Miami could recoup some of the draft cost by trading Tua away in 2022, once they have a chance to see if Watson is still playing at a high level. It's a very risky move, but with a tough Buffalo team and maybe resurgent Pats team to deal with, you need a franchise QB to win the division.

If we still wanted Watson (which I doubt, given how Tua's looked this off-season), my offer would stand for a 2023 1st rounder...and not a penny more. If Watson is applying pressure on his end to make that happen, then the Texans would eventually cave and accept it. But I don't believe a word of any of this talk- it's all smokescreens to strum up interest.

Six months ago, I would have said to roll the dice with 3 first rounders, especially since that's what we picked up by trading back in the draft. But today I'm sold enough on Tua where I have no desire for the drama and problems surrounding Watson. The only way I'd want us to be in those conversations is if he's close to signing with NY or NE...otherwise I have zero interest. Hopefully he becomes a Panther.

IF Flores was 100% sold on Tua all this speculation would go away with a press release that said, "We're not interested".
    That hasn't happened.
If Watson is the #4 QB then the pressure is on Houston to trade for what they can get or pay 10 million for him to sit. That makes no sense.
Tua had 2 good quarters of play against Atlanta's 2nd string. That's not good enough to quit shopping.

This is how bad teams are run.
The Texans could have shipped him off before the legal troubles started.
The Texans could have shipped him off before the draft.
The Texans could have shipped him off before training camp.

Now that the market for QBs is at its absolute lowest they spread around the news that they’re willing to trade. The price named is would have been a fair price 6 months ago. And I would have been pretty happy if the Dolphins accepted the deal back then. Now considering what’s happened it’s a delusional price tag.

My only comment on the legal proceedings is that the lawyer for the plaintiffs has been doing some pretty shady stuff, and in my experience lawyers with good cases generally don’t do shady stuff because they don’t want to risk damaging a good claim with legal mistakes.

Makes no sense for the Dolphins to trade for him if it means giving up Tua or a high value pick given all his legal troubles and Tua showing clear signs of improvement. Best to see what Tua can do first before trading away a potential franchise QB on a rookie deal.

As far as Houston is concerned, their best move IMO is to pay Watson the $10.54 million to sit (if necessary) this year. Let the uncertainty surrounding the legal issues settle, and if Watson is eligible to play in 2022 then you can either play him or trade him for a ransom.

Conversely, if the Dolphins are thinking they could play that game by trading for Watson by giving up essentially nothing (e.g., a few mid round picks and nothing else) and paying his salary with the intent of trading or playing him in 2022, then that would be a brilliant move IMO. The upside is so huge whether it's actually landing an elite QB that stays or getting a boatload of picks by trading him. The cost would only be $10.54 million.

No, acquisitions is Grier's job but, he's getting input from Flores, Ross and, others. However it works out, Tua is going to start the season regardless. Houston has two weeks to get reasonable and make a deal or, pay Watson 10 million to sit. It's more than a rumor.
