I have faith in Grier/Flores judgement but I don't understand why they did it ?

I think they wanted Davis not Dobbins with that pick.

As soon as Ravens took Dobbins we submitted our pick, if we wanted Dobbins I think we would have used our time allotted to regroup and check our options.

I have faith in the Grier/flores combo picks judgement but I can tell that I am disappointed with 2 of our picks and more importantly, I think we wanted others players at this pick but Grier react not with enough reactivity.

I really think we wanted Ruiz with our third first rounder.......But the saints pick him !
my problem is if you study NO saints drafting history, you could see they draft often solid OL in the first round.....so IMO that was predictable.......and we have amno to leapfrog them !!!!!

tomorrow the same things was reproduced for Dobbins (and now don't tell me that the RB we will pick will good like Dobbins please) and IMO for Ashtyn Davis picked by the jets and we panicked and picked Brandon Jones but again we have the amno to move up and we don't did it [ATTACH:full][ATTACH:full][ATTACH:full]

OK it's only my intuition but 3 times......I don't think so and just imagine what would be our OL with Ruiz and our offense with Dobbins.
Add that we could have picked Noah in the second if coach Flo really liked him.

I have some faith in Flores as a coach, however I dont have much faith in grier as a talent evaluator. Too many bonheaded picks and busts over the years to have faith in him. Overall this draft is a mixed bag. I think the best pick so far was Hunt. Worst pick was definitely Jones, if we wanted a safety there we could've had utah's blackmon or clemson's tanner muse with that pick. Both are better safeties than freaking brandon jones.

Oh excuse me, I'm not ready to anoint him a great coach after one 5 win season.

He did good with the talent he had, but "dumb" would be to put blind faith in him at this point. He merits some faith, but still needs to do a lot more to convince me he's a great head coach.

Its obvious to me now that Grier is an imbecile and is THE primary reason our drafts have been so poor over the years.

Dude's been around 20 years and... surprise surprise... we've been inept at drafting for all 20 of those years.

Hitman has a point....Flores was 5-11........you are what your record is.....now he did earn some goodwill because he had a shit team with shit talent....but he has to keep improving the results and moving the right direction to be declared the answer. We should be encouraged but long way to go fellas....and Hitman and I agree on very little from what I see in the few days I have been back.....

I'd throw a bit of caution. I've seen people talking up playoffs for instance. While that's a fine goal, I think we should be OK with a lesser performance as well. Now, going backwards would be hard to handle, but if we go 7-9, with a strong finish, keep seeing player development and playing hard? I think that's still a good season.

This is still a process, they didn't go all in and load up for a run. They are still building a foundation and letting it cure.

To answer you OP, i agree with you, i think Ruiz was our guy, and assumed he would falls to us. However with Ruiz being a center, we probably didn't think they would draft another one since they drafted Erik McCoi (ironically Saints gave us our extra 2 this year for picking McCoy last year). I am reading today Saints might move McCoy to guard. Maybe the Dolphins would know that, maybe not.

It really depends if 1) they had Ruiz as the next highest rated player or not. Maybe they didn't, or had him and several other players slotted around the same.

Also, and i might catch flak for this, but Breida for a 5th > Dobbins for a 2nd

If you want to be pedantic sure, however, he beat one of the better teams in the league with a payroll that was on the field less than $30 million dollars. I believe the amount was $22 million. While the other team had over $130 million dollar payroll on the field.

I am at the point where I believe in Flores and will need to see him fail to think otherwise.

I am hopeful Flores is the guy but I'm not ready to say he is the answer quite yet. I'm sure many here thought Sparano was the answer after that 11-5 season and I'm sure many thought Gase was the answer after that 10-6 season. I'm gonna wait and see with Flores.

I dont have tons of faith in him either. I, and others, predicted 5 wins before last year began if Fitz started. Doing what I expected doesnt get you extra points.

The fact that he had the team entirely unprepared and embarrassing itself early on is on him, it doesnt make the end of the season any better to me. You dont get to poop the bed and then take credit for hosing it down.

Hes definitely a motivator, but as far as scheme or innovation, which it will take to win a division or Superbowl, we have proven less than nothing.

I dont think it's wrong to be lukewarm on our staff. Not everyone is so easily impressed in life that a bad season that went exactly as expected makes us have total faith in a coach.

Youd think Flores cured cancer. Every game we won minus NE we had a QB or talent advantage in. We didnt do anything great or worthy of praise.

When we actually do something positive I'll have faith in our staff. Until then, I see no change from the first year of previous regime.

In fact I'd go as far as to say I have no more faith in Flores than I did Philbin or Gase after year one. Not because he is terrible like them but because their first years IMO brought just as much "hope".
