Friend of mine had dinner with someone inside an NFL team who works directly in the scouting and player development depts..
The team does not like Cam Newton, and i mean that literally, he rubbed them the wrong way at the combine..
I dont think I should say the team, just because I wanna protect that source for some more info here in the near future..
The team currently has strong leadership at the QB position and at the GM position..They are however looking into other QB's in this draft to groom...and this team, has had CKap in for a private interview..
At least I know some of my analysis on both players Newton and CKap are shared by an NFL front office..
The source also says the dolphins should select Mark Ingram if hes available, their very impressed by him..

I think I have a guess as to the team...
And as to the team, it wouldn't really surprise me, if it's who I think it is. -

I don't intentionally dislike players who don't abuse animals and/or small children or don't consider giving a woman Rohypnol as "taking her to dinner", however something about Cam rubs me the wrong way, too.

So essentially, this thread was here to push your belief in Kaepernick. Didn't we also have Bryant in for a now famous private interview?
-
So to answer your question directly I would say Initially no, essentially?..iam not sure what that means in your context.dolfan7171 likes this. -
cam no! :morning:
use the pick for the best possible talent & a probable starter @15 regardless of position
too many issues unresolved & questions unanswered
next year should sport a better selection of QB's
draft a winner -
I think people are afraid to support him because they don't want to appear "wrong" when he fulfills his "bust potential". :couch:
Just kidding to all those who like the kid. -

No offense dj, but I don't put a whole hell of a lot of stock in a friend of a friend's cousins brother's aunt twice removed type inside scoops.

Botttom line...Cam newtons flaws that have been reported on all offseason have made a team take him off their board, and you aint got sh$# to say about it, except try to convince yourself that it must not be true..finyank13 likes this. -
I expect that there are several teams that have Newton and/or Mallett completely off their board. Those two are polarizing players. Every team has to make their own decision as to how much of a risk they're willing to take on those two since they clearly have some red flags. I have no doubt that there are teams that have come down on both sides for each player. The question each team has to ask is whether they feel their past character issues are simply due to maturity issues which they have outgrown or things that are likely to be continuing problems. After that question is answered, they have to evaluate what they think the upside is and compare it to the risk they see. Personally, I would not take Newton off my board. I wouldn't trade up for him but I'd be fine taking him at #15. Mallett I would have off my board entirely.

BTW I'm not talking about the standard "all 1st round QBs bust at about a 50% rate" since I believe that individual evaluation can improve those numbers. -

My personal opinion is the team in question is the Patriots. It would be just like Bill the Butcher to not want to touch a guy like Cam. They have already expressed an interest in Mark Ingram. Now, the news is that Fred Taylor is "retired." -
Either you're completely making this stuff up, or you've proven yourself to be untrustworthy. Your attempts at withholding the name of the team does not make you more credible. You immediately ran to an internet message board. -
You mean to tell me that there's 1 of 32 NFL teams that doesn't like 1 specific player in the NFL draft? Wow. I'm shocked.

who cares... im sure some teams had Dan Marino off of their draft board...
even in this draft, im sure some teams have Ryan Mallet off their draft board too
every team has different opinions on different players, some are right some are wrong... -
I'm surprised people are giving DJ so much grief over something that is so obvious. Whenever a player has character questions (for example being investigated by the NCAA or being kicked off of a team), there will be some teams that take him off their board. Why would anyone question that DJ spoke to someone who told him this? Do they just refuse to believe that anyone in the scouting department would tell a friend this? I could see if it was a new, unheard of poster, but why call a longtime poster a liar regarding an issue that is so likely factual? And no, he shouldn't say the team and violate the trust. I still speak to NFL agents from time to time and I would never say more than what they say I can say. I usually keep it to myself or just say I've heard "x" in some vague way. If people choose to believe me it's up to them.

I came to this message board because this is my home, and was excited to share some pretty serious information..
I trust the source, The exchange of words did happen, if you dont trust me, than piss off, what can I tell you.. -
Now, in this case you add an extra degree of separation between the poster and the "inside source" and now I'm really not putting a lot of faith in it.
For the record, I want no part of Miami drafting Cam Newton. -
Whatever it was you posted in the OP was nothing more than unsubstantiated speculation. When no "Cam defenders" wanted to argue with you, you called us out, looking for a fight. Well guess what, buddy? I know people have concerns with Cam Newton. I don't care. The guy will DOMINATE the NFL and I him on our team. I could care less what one team thinks. One team's decision to take him off their board doesn't mean anything. Sorry your thread with your inside scoop didn't pan out the way you wanted it to. -
