I'm not one to let things get to me, but unfortunately, this has. I discovered the website the other night and have been reading up on it ever since. It's not a joke. Many of these people genuinely believe the earth to be flat. They believe that NASA has been faking flight missions, and that no one has been into outer space. All of the governments around the world are in on it. No satellites. GPS is fake, they use towers and the information is altered on the spot to make it as the though it's from a different perspective. http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php has ongoing discussions about this and you'll see just how ridiculous these people are. They claim that people just believe whatever they're taught in school, but fail to back up their claims with anything legitimate. Just unbelievable.
I don't mind conspiracies, in fact I enjoy reading up on them. But at least most of them have something to do go on. These people use people from hundreds of years ago as "sources" and have created nearly a dozen theories that go against Physics as we understand it today to justify a flat earth. I'm more apt to believe in the moon being hollow than this shenanigans.
Not all of them. Alaska.net is a troll site. This place has a bunch of people really into it that have written all sorts of stuff on it. That's what I thought originally, and I'm sure some of them are.
your right there are few that believe or pretend to. I would pose the question whats on the other side?? and can we dig to the other side? Hilarious site nonetheless
It is. I first got into into it for the lulz, of course. But as I read more and more, I can't help but feel bad for the guys, as well as frustrated. This is a perfect example. I mean seriously. Is it a chemical imbalance in the noggin?
If the Earth were flat we'd have found a way to throw people off of it. There has to be an edge somewhere right? No way it's flat, because bands would be playing concerts there and Donald Trump would own all real estate near it.
We talk about this in our pseudoscience class here at UCF. It actually led to a pretty funny and enjoyable class discussion. Granted, these people have no idea of the science that backs this theory up, but hey, its funny.
LOL. They answer a lot of questions with (What proof do you have?) I wonder what their answer would be for my DirecTV working.
i agree. there is no way the earth has not flattened out with 50 years of people eating McDonald's. Its like Rosie O' Donnel's pillow....how long do you expect it to keep its shape
They claim that the government uses fake satellites, ones that sit on very high towers that no one has ever seen before. This is also how we stage GPS tracking. We are really using these instead of satellites. This ignores the fact that: A. we use GPS just find in the MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN and B. it also works in valleys. Don't believe it? Prove it.
