I certainly agree on the second part. I was opposed to Cameron, Sparano and Philbin before they were hired and never warmed to any of them.
IN all seriousness my biggest OOF moment was getting super excited about Nick Saban.. I never liked his attitude but I thought finally we have a head coach who know his craft, and would give old Bill in NE something to worry about! I thought the darkest of days had passed us by... Boy was I wrong on that one!
the worst part about it is that I think he would have made a great NFL coach, he's just more happy being a big fish in a small pond.
I wanted Ray Farmer as GM. I was embarrassed when a report leaked that Ross continued to mistakenly refer to him as "Roy" during his interview. Now, seeing as how he has screwed up the Brown's organization with poor draft picks, the texting scandal, etc I'm so relieved he passed on us.
I was wrong about Ronnie Brown. I thought he"d be great. Instead he was happy with eating cheeseburgers and being good.
I was wrong to ever believe that this franchise could learn from their mistakes and at least follow the example of successful NFL franchises. Consistency and maintaining the successes they have while getting better have been their greatest fails for me. TOP down.
lol, folks laughed at me when I called him fat in training camp that one year..later on I found out he was depressed, lacked energy on the field, and had no clue how to eat healthy, junk food junkie.
I think I can say I was wrong about Tannehill. I thought he would steadily improve to become a consistently above average QB. Never good enough to be the primary reason for winning, but more than sufficient to build a perennial playoff contender around. Now I think I've seen enough to know he's average at BEST. What happens from here? Who knows, but I know I was wrong about his trajectory as a QB.
If it's okay with you, I'll just settle for the next Bellichick. I'll even put up with the cheating if the next head coach can do for the Dolphins, what Bellichick has done for the Patriots.
You know.. one thing I wonder about regarding the cheating. Clearly, in the current NFL climate some fans (including me) will point to many shady practices by Belichick and say there should at least be an asterisk next to Belichick and Brady's accomplishments (maybe the difference is 4 SB's vs. only 3 SB's.. but a SB is HUGE, so it's something worth speculating about). But the NFL itself won't put any asterisks next to NE's SB's. However.. what about further in the future where society may have different ethical issues and they revisit past accomplishments? Man.. one thing that totally surprised me was Lance Armstrong getting stripped of all 7 Tour de France titles (personally, I think all that matters is having a level playing field.. if everyone doped, then he's the champ among dopers lol). Maybe one day we get to see NE stripped of some of those SB's? I can only hope. And of course I say this selfishly as a Dolphins fan. Either way, Belichick's a very good coach and I have no doubt he would have much (but not all?) of the success he had without the cheating.
Based on publicly available evidence, I guess everyone not caught violating a rule. Of course, I bet most teams bend/break a lot of rules and don't get caught, but NE apparently went a bit too far in some cases.
I think it's still early to say this, but I will say I'm as pessimistic about Tannehill as I've ever been. I'm starting to think he won't ever reach his potential with the Dolphins. It's probably going to get to the point where his coaches/teammates are going to lose faith in him and he'll be pushed out of Miami. He'll probably get one more chance with whoever the new coach is next year but if he doesn't produce, he's gone in 2017.
Primarily Miami, NY and Buffalo...although they've been cheating in every home game for the past 2+ decades. They deflate footballs, steal playbooks, video tape sideline signals, and use listening equipment to hear play calls. In fact, they have a professional lip reader in their box with a photographic memory that calls down the opponents plays every single down. Let's see, what else....they bug locker rooms, they break into visiting teams hotel rooms, and they send scouts to all 32 teams facilities to tape practices. They offer contracts based on producing playbooks and giving insights on updated signal calls...they actually have a designated interrogation room for this. They lie to the media, to other owners, and they pay off the league commissioner by...well, getting him the job as the commissioner. It literally goes on and on; read the entire ESPN scandal report here. You're welcome.
I started changing my stance toward him the beginning of this season and toward the end of last year. I'm done with him.
I was not wrong on Tannehill. I would bounce back and forth on him. I just dislike people closing their minds to suit an agenda. Funny, I didn't listTannehill once in my post.. Yet you seem to want to stir the pot. I root for this team no matter what.. Whoever plays well or poor.. I can't say that for everyone on here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hence, if I didn't state anything about Tannehill, how can I be wrong about him.. Derp Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The guys asks how could he be wrong about Tannehill after he goes around telling everyone the Dolphins have a franchise QB in Tannehill. lmao. Derp.
When did I ever say to everyone that Tannehill was a franchise QB? Show me where I ever used that word? Seriously. I wish I could be as happy as you when the Dolphins lose.. Not in me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I thought Saban would be a good coach. I didn't like the Sparano hiring, but thought he was outstanding during that first season. I thought Lamar Miller was overrated. Other than those things, my wait-n-see approach has served me well. OH, bought into the preseason hype this year, somewhat - not fully though.
I was wrong about Mike Tannenbaum. I thought he was a bad hire, but he's actually terrible. I was wrong on Tannehill. He's not a franchise QB.
