Holly smokes. Thats NOT enough Iron out front for me...specially considering this thing lobs small Volkswagons that slighly resemble lead....
didja see the spread? four feet and you could hardly wrap your arms around the pattern. Laying in bed, shooting the perp at the foot of the bed.. you better curl your toes or they get it too.
I had the idea for a .410 shotshell handgun 30 years ago and everyone told me I was nuts. Of course, I also drew up a 12 ga. handgun as well. This is pretty cool. If nothing else, it would make a handy snake-defense gun should the need arise.
Too short a barrel, and too much lead coming out I imagine. I have a Winchester .44/mag Carbine, lever action just like Rifleman used to shoot. Thing is actually VERY accurate to about 100 feet, after that, I am better off just throwing the damn bullets. Also, I can only shoot about 40-50 rounds before my shoulder has had ENOUGH. I have a Weatherby .300 mag that doesnt hurt me like that damn carbine does.
Nice, I've been lusting after a Le Mat for years now, 8 shots and a 62 caliber shotgun barrel as well...it's love...
I used to make snake loads, but not so much anymore, as I don't have time. here is one example of how to make them. They are a very effective load, but I must say, that with this type of load, it makes a person lazy, and less reliable with their aim. I must say, that is one sweet handgun. I would love to add it to my collection. Taurus makes a very good gun. Snake Loads
I bought steel shot shells for my .357 and .22 mag handguns, but I have never tried them out. I love the idea for snakes. One of my favorite fishing spots has a lot of rattle snakes. Now I have a cure for them.
Holy crap, that might be too much damage for me, haha. I've wanted a 1911 for quite awhile now, just haven't found the right one for the right price yet.
I've fished steelhead on the Snake and Salmon rivers; Hell's Canyon is a blast, it's the junction of the two.
Great photos. Thanks for sharing. I live four miles from the snake river so I fish it alot. Had fished for salmon on the salmon river, back in the sixtys. You would see a lot of huge salmon dying on the banks of the river after spawning. It has been several years since I have fished for steelhead. My father in law helps out at the Sawtooth Hatchery and gives me several steelhead every year. I prefer to have them smoked.
Right after Copper River, steelhead is just about my favorite NW fish. I like it anyway it's prepared; but yeah, lightly smoked is really nice. Here's a couple more:
That's the dichotomy, Marty: once you hook one, that's the overriding sensory memory that you carry from the experience. But that first ride out in an open boat at 35 MPH+ in freezing temperatures or below, at 5:30 in the morning is ****ing BRUTAL! And depending on where you're fishing that day, the trip can be up to 30 miles from the dock. Makes you appreciate Stoli for breakfast.
true, but they fight more like salmon than trout, thats for sure I was to lazy to correct my type-o hoping no one would notice. thanks
Yeah, I think they taste much more like Kokonee than Rainbow too. I like Rainbow (Specially fresh out of a mountain stream) but LOVES me some fresh Kokonee
Used to have a great place to catch Kokonee, just never get the time. as for rainbow trout, I truly love to fish streams. here is one of the streams near kennedy meadows I just wasn't paying attention to what I was typing. I have some pictures of some king salmon I caught a few years back. I'll scan and post, gotta find em first.
this is a sturgeon i caught a few years back, he weighed 117 lbs. i caught 2 this day, this is the bigger of the 2.
they throw you in jail forever here if you take a sturgeon, what's it taste like? and you look like John..ffic, only bigger, but that's prolly just a camera trick to make the fish look bigger..
California has a slot limit, at the time was 46" to 72", and this fish was actually 70". As far as the taste, its probably the best tasting fish I've ever eaten. My wife absolutely hates to eat fish, and even she said this is really good. It is very white, and when you cook it, it looks more like pork than fish, as it really doesn't get flaky, like fish usually does, and has the texture of a pork chop. As for the picture, there is no trick photography. My thirteen year old nephew snapped the picture, but it was taken when I still had hair. What a lucky guy John is, if we look alike
My excuse is, the picture adds about 20 LBSbesides, it's a fluffy coat that makes me look bigger than I am. I hate dragging deer. I've had some horrible drags that lasted hours in total darkness with no flashlight, dying of thirst, and covered in blood, some of it my own.
Last Bull I shot was pretty darn big... and it was in the snow. When sizing it up before I got an arrow off, I swore it was pretty good sized. After I quartered etc, I swear it wouldve smashed any Boone and Crockett (It wasnt THAT big, but was a solid 5 and 6) I drug that god-damn Elk out for 4 hours, uphill, in the snow.......creating a HUGE red mess in the snow the entire way. That was my last hunt actually almost 13 years ago.
