I believe Tony is just being loyal and taking the high road refusing to dump on a long time friend on his way out the door. at least, I hope that's the case.

Real question is if Henning does retire, who will replace him with the labor issues upcoming?
We have David Lee and Karl Dorrel on staff, Sparano did that job somewhat in Dallas, which strikes me as the best option. -

Its not only the labor issue, but what I mentioned on Chris' show last night. What top notch OC is going to come to leave their present job, to come to Miami with Sparano on the hot seat ? Usually when a coach gets fired, his asst coaches also get the axe. Its a lot to ask of someone who would have to uproot their family, and perhaps come clear across the US to work for a lame duck, or hotly seated coach. Everyone on the board seems to think you wave a magic wand and some great OC is just going to be dying to come to Miami. It doesn't work that way. Henne could also be a handicap in getting another OC here. If they think he is damaged goods they don't want to take on that and perhaps be wasting their time. Something to think about and questions to be answered. Sparano if he stays might have his work cut out for him on this, and may just end up promoting D. Lee if he has a hard time finding a Henning replacement.miamiron likes this.

I've been pushing for Kubiak for a bit also but if Elway gets the consultant job in Denver, them hiring Kubiak is inevitable.

If Henning wasnt already set to retire, and was planning on coaching for a few more years... Sporano would be singing a different tune.
Sparano has been all about accountability. He replaced the DC last year, and he'll replace the OC this year... assuming Sparano is still around.
