I like the comment under the article that just says 'Steve Ross line one...'

Ross seems done with Gase. Dave Hyde hinted in his article that Ross pretty much despised all of the offseason moves.

I'll be in the minority opinion. I like Gase as a coach. I thought the fins were a 7-9 team talent wise and the fact that we'll meet or beat that record with our injuries and starting Brock a few games is a decent job.
Also, Gase is young and has many years ahead to improve as a coach in this league. I prefer stability at this time and build with him. -

Reading the M Herald site, they report that Ross believes Gase will make a good coach .Yes ,just like the way they thought Tannehill would become a good QB. Ross must be the worst owner in the NFL for making logical decisions. Grow a pair Ross and take out Gase and Burke

I actually still don't hate Gase. I think it's justified to replace him and won't complain, but at the very minimum I think he needs to be forced to take on a more HC approach and not seem like a glorified offensive coordinator on the sideline.
This would mean bringing in an experienced OC and DC this offseason.RevRick, Tin Indian and KeyFin like this. -
At minimum they have to fire Tannenbaum. Like Aguynamedalex said I dont hate Gase yet but wont complain if they move on. I also agree if he does stay he must give up play calling and bring in a new OC and DC and let them do their jobs.
IMHO, the only guy I really think deserves to stay is Grier. Remember Gase has final say on personnel, not Grier. I think Grier is one of those guys we will be kicking ourselves in the butt for letting go in a couple years. That said if they do bring someone else in to replace Tannenbaum, he has to have the authority and autonomy to replace anyone he wants, unlike past regime changes under Ross.Surfs Up 99, RevRick and AGuyNamedAlex like this. -
It's very tough when you lose the star quality that we've been without the past two seasons, and I think that Gase has the potential to make us a playoff team. The disconnect comes from having a casual, hands-off owner who doesn't know the football side of things- how can an outsider to the business say it's Tannenbaum or Grier or Gase? He can ask all the friends he wants but if they don't see the operations side of things, then they're just guessing and I think that can hurt us in the long run.
For instance, which players are you guys mad about that we signed/released in 2017/2018? I like Wilson and Amendola. Not sure if losing Pouncey was smart, but most of the moves I think have been sound ones. It all comes back to injury no matter how you look at it and I'm not sure who needs to be fired over that (if anyone).
If Gase is gone, so be it. I almost guarantee you that the "next man up" will not be a lock like everyone is expecting though...how is Ross qualified to make that decision? We definitely need better coordinators though and a re-work of our defensive philosophy, but I still think we're a pretty sound football team that's not far off from being special. I would definitely be looking at replacing some team trainers or adding to that aspect of the organization to see if there's anything more we could be doing to keep folks healthy....that would be my priority #1.Last edited: Dec 26, 2018Tin Indian, Puka-head, Irishman and 2 others like this. -

The only thing that's obvious to me is that we have a breakdown somewhere between the coaching and the management to let this team succeed. I can't tell you who that is though because none of us are in the building. The drafts have gotten better though and overall the team talent is higher than prior years, so I don't think this is a case of pointing a finger and getting a magical solution.
The same could be said for Tannehill- I agree that he's not the guy long term. Someone has to start in a few months though and folks here are saying no to RT, Oz, Falk, etc. If the goal is to win games next season, then it has to be someone at least as good as Tannehill is today...and I think that's a pretty short list of people since RT is still hovering around a top 10 QB on the year.
I just don't see how you start firing coaches, quarterbacks and management without first identifying the actual problems within the team. And I don't see how you do that with an owner who is only casually interested on what's going on behind closed doors. No company can run efficiently that way unless you have an all-star CEO.....and we have no clue whether we have that or not. The only thing we do know is that you can't just guess on a billion dollar company and hope things work out....it's a recipe for disaster.
I'll say this for Gase- our team is going to go 8-8 or 7-9 without four of our top five players for the majority of the season (Tannehill, Wilson, Howard, Gore, Drake) plus 60-100% of our line on IR at any given time. We had some weeks where we were starting running backs at WR just to have a starting 11.
If you choose ANY PRO TEAM and take four of their top five players away, it would be a small miracle if they finished at or around .500. Then take 60% of their line for the year and their two best interior D linemen....you can see where I'm going with this. We did pretty well to reach the 7-9 mark despite what anyone says or thinks.Last edited: Dec 26, 2018Irishman, Tin Indian and AGuyNamedAlex like this.
