If we tank the rest of our games, will it benefit us getting another high 1rst round pick?? I would prefer to stay out of the top 5. Maybe finish 6-10 or 7-9.

Actually finishing poorly may, long term be more beneficial for this team???

    Opinions Please..................

    No. Never.

Sorry but I hate the idea of ever tanking any game for any reason. You can get a stud in the second round, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh so you should be able to find one mid first.

    hahahahahha....priceless!

NFL history has shown talent and the ability to execute can occur regardless of draft position. It has shown teams that consistently draft following playoff or SB runs have long remained in playoff or SB runs. Conversly, it has shown that Top 10 draft picks do not necessarily change the fortunes of teams that fail to execute, year after year, after year (also known as Matt Millen Rule).

I dont want Top 10 Draft picks as our false sense of savior.....I want the talent we acquire through trades, FA, or draft to execute. When they have done that, Miami has produced Playoff teams, AFC Championship Team, and SB Champion teams....its not about a given years draft picks. Ever!!!!!!

Plus I just payed $125 to see this game, I'd be so angry if they lost on purpose. That is a slap in the face to every single fan who goes out to that game, or dedicates those hours in front of the TV.

Lets do it! Start Pat White and force him to throw right handed, Ted Ginn? Here is your chance to be a starting CB, and Zach is coming out of retirement to play saftey.

All joking aside I dont think any real fan can root for losses, but there is a smidget of brightside if you know what I mean.

    Okay I get it.

Let me put it another way.

If we finish 7-9 or so do you think long term, after trying our a$$ off to win, we would be better off picking higher in the draft???

Let me answer it the same way....no...Draft picks have nothing to do with EXECUTION.

Its not about where you draft (heck we have proven that havent we???)...its about getting execution from whomever you draft.

I feel ya, might as well salvage something.

But we could go 7-9 without tanking things, and the way football players are wired they just don't tank on purpose anyway, too much work too much invested into the Game.

I'd rather go 9-7 honestly. Winning builds a culture of winning, and when you work hard you want to see that it pays off in wins.

In my opinion if you draft right you will find the player you need regardless of where you pick.

Disagree Sick, winning is infectious, you'd much rather "just miss' than be simply garbage, and i'd much rather have Chad Henne feel first hand what a playoff hunt is like the pressure and intensity is not like earlier in the year.

Winning records produce winning streaks...zero, zero, zero justification to ever not want to win.

And Draft position...seriously, you all make it seem like the higher the draft pick the more guarantee you have at turning into a winner by losing????

Please...wake up....that has never been the case, ever. So many high draft picks bomb compared to a lower pick (passed on by so many other teams) turns into the right guy all along.

Hell Minnesota couldnt get its pick in on time in the past...teams trade up only to see a guy on the board where they would have picked be the right one.

    AND COUGH.....Hello - Dan F'in Marino anyone......COUGH

    Please!!!!!!

I think I'd prefer to see us stop tanking games....

That being said, given the way we are playing and the schedule ahead, we could easily end up below .500

losing is contagious. tank the game and you may never win another one. you play to win every game. then Ireland has to do his job and pick good players.

as much as i'd like us to win out and finish 10-6 ... we are more likely to finish 8-8 or 9-7, since we can not stop the bleeding on defense.

8-8 should put us in the middle of the pack on draft day ... but i'd like to be high enough to get McClain ....

I do not think we have to tank anything.I think we will 6-10 or 7-9 anyway with all the holes we have on this team.

i can understand that perpective but lets say, if we lose this week, i'am about player evaluation from then on, the wins and losses dont matter much to me after that point cause i would expect to see youngsters move up the ranks, and once that happens, you just hope for wins ya know.

our playoff hopes are still alive. if we lose tomorrow then its pretty much over and i would be all for the jimmy johnson "tanking theory" that helped him build some SB winners but knowing this organization they will play it straight.

We will not be "eliminated" for quite sometime dj, especially if we win tomorrow.

JT, JP, the vets know this.

As for "Seeing what they have" keep in mind that the youngsters, outside of Pat Turner, have all played at least some this year.

You play to win the game. Herm was right.

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll lose several more games without even trying. One of which will probably be tomorrow afternoon. :( But I'll still be watching and cheering for them.

Playing our Second, third and forth stringers doesn't mean we quit or are not trying to win. But seeing where we truely are and evaluating the talent we have against other teams could make us a whole lot better faster and give us better picks in each round of the draft

Possible, but not likely, not with the Ravens and Steelers in the mix we would have to run the table (Titans, Texans, Jags, Steelers) and the ravens, pitt, jags, texans and titans would have to each lose 2 more games.

5 teams have to lose two more games with 4 to go for us to make the playoffs with a loss tomorrow, inow, we have to win that damn game.

And we are gonna do what with it..........seriously.....play a game that will get everyone's hopes up and then loose. Putting us further down in the draft. Take last year for example.

There is no way we can play with the likes of Minnesota, New England, the Saints, Indianapolis, etc. Thinking anything else is dreaming....which is okay but highly unlikely and I am just trying to keep it real.:confused2:

You do realize how long it has been since the Dolphins made back to back playoff apperances? 7 yrs? 8?

The NFL is not the NBA though 2socks, it takes teams some time to build a core of players to make playoff runs and then advance deeply into the playoffs, if we make it again this year, with a Rookie Qb and rook Cb's we will have a heck of alot to look forward to in 2010, the core players the Longs and Starks and Langfords will know what it takes to win ballgames that matter.

There are still some young guys that could use some game time...

    Cam Wake

    Patrick turner

    Culver

    Clemons

    Sheets

    Hilliard

    Hartline

    Sperry

    Gardener

    Murtha

    McDaniel

    Francis

    Baker

    Walden

    Torbor

    Anderson

If we lose to the Pats the season is over. It would benefit us greatly to get a good long look at these guys and see what they offer. Gotta go with dj on this one.... oh and we could also work Pat White in at WR...hehehe

Rolando McClain could be taken anywhere in the to 15 as of right now. And right now, He's the guy we need. (actually, Eric Berry would be our savior, but we've already won too many games to be in the top 5)

Let the team play. We'll get the guy we need where we pick. Vontae's turning out to be a wonderful pick for us (and far better then many picks taken before him) and we took him in the bottom half of the first last year.

Cam Wake has played since the chargers game

Patrick turner I doubt he plays no matter our record,

    Culver played all season

Clemons started a game, plays in dime packages

    Sheets nope, hasn't played

    Hilliard played since Ronnie injury

Hartline played since maybe game 5

Sperry I think they want to see what Fasano and Haynos have

Gardner Plays Tackle no room for him right now to see the field

    Murtha Tackle as well

McDaniel has played more since Fergie went down

    Francis ???

Baker He will see more playing time imho they like him more than they like Soliai at the moment, Starks was praising him on Aqauvision, apparently they are locker neighbors

    Walden ST player

Torbor Started two games when Channing was out

Anderson Started a game when Porter was benched

No way baby, the majority of those players have seen a decent amount of playing time, and imho Ryan Baker will see more time at NT along with McD.

I'd like to see what Kory Sheets can do though, there we agree, and maybe White can play in the last half of the last game at Qb...:wink2:
