Wow. I was expecting a 9.5-9.8, not even 9.9. I've never seen a 10/10 on IGN: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/869/869541p1.html So there you have it. There's a Game Play video as well which includes zero spoilers.
Video Review (4:36) - http://ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/793799/grand-theft-auto-iv/videos/gta4_review_042508.html Says it's IGN's first 10/10 given in about a DECADE.
No way the game is perfect they likely got caught up in all the hype like the rest of us but considering this is the first game they have given a perfect score in a decade I would have to disagree with your first statement.
Fine I should say Gamespot but if a game isn't a Mario, FF, Halo, ect it tends to get a low score. You have to know some companys pay some premium to these sites to review their games and give them a good score.
"Without question, Grand Theft Auto IV is the best game since Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." Wow thats not really saying much to me
Are you serious? That's a huge compliment. Ocarina of Time was an amazing game for its time. I remember breaking all kinds of sales records. I guess you would have been pretty young then so maybe that has something to do with it.
Don't worry, I might be the only video game player on the planet who has never even played Halo, not even once.
No I played it just was never really impressed at the time : / I'm not a huge Zelda fan so maybe thats why. Ive only played Halo (friends house) and Halo 3 Beta. Yeah while its fun for awhile its just like any other run N gun shooter just with different Skins.
Yeah, I don't even pay attention to reviews. I just found this one remarkable considering it's the first 10/10 by IGN in about a decade. I don't credit IGN too much though, for they did review Halo 3 at 9.5/10 or whatever it was. That game was crap.
if halo wasn't pushed by microsoft it would be seen for what it is I think, an average game. red vs blue is the only thing good to come out of it
IMO, keep it that way. It's a complete waste of time. If you want the maximum online experience: 360: Gears PS3: Resistance CoD4 was fun for the limited time it lasted before becoming repetitive.
yea because you were wetting your diapers when it came out. that game was easily 2 or 3 years ahead of its time. no console game had any business being so huge and beautiful for that time.
I agree, that game was amazing. One of the few games in my life that I've played through multiple times.
That game came out only 10 years ago, it wasn't that long ago... It was a good game no doubt, but some people just aren't fans of the Zelda franchise.
good point. its ok maj plenty of sociopath......... i mean people wet the bed at such a late age.......
No, it wasn't. It was an extremely overhyped game for its time, nothing more. It's not even as good a Zelda game as its predecessor, Link to the Past. The idea that Ocarina of Time is the greatest game ever made is cause to drink. Gamespot seems to be trending in that direction, but with regards to IGN you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. IGN earned its "You can't spell ignorant without IGN" reputation around 2000, and it was well-deserved. But over the last 2-3 years it's gotten significantly better. Right now it's the best gaming site on the Internet in terms of content. (In terms of layout design, it's Godawful, but we won't get into that right now.) I usually agree with IGN's reviews and their editors' positions. When the site's biggest problems are its layout and its use of a 10-point review curve, I'd say it's pretty damn good. (Regarding the 10-point curve, too many people apply their school grade curves to the thing, so rather than 5.0 being average, 7.0 becomes average. It renders the entire scale useless, because your editors then have to adjust their scores to compensate for that perception, so you almost never get games ranked below a 6.0.) Of course, I'm biased in all this because I've known IGN's Editorial Manager, Jeremy Dunham, for almost a decade now.
Much like the Zelda franchise, I'm just not a fan of the GTA franchise. It was fun for about 15 minutes then I wondered why I was still playing it. I don't know what they could add to the game to make it deserve such a high rating. But it would have to get a 15 out of 10 for me to even consider buying it.
I still don't see how Ocarina of Time was over hyped. I still think it was an amazing transition from 2d to 3d being their first attempt they did great. I mean I can still play it today and have more fun playing it then 90% of the games out there.
eh alot more poor souls then not I guess, I know countless people who think OoT is one of best games of all time, and reviewers agree. I just can't understand your analysis on how its not a great game. I am trying to but I just can't see it.
This is what I know for a fact: it is in the top five funnest games I have ever played in my 28+ years of life. Call it what you want but you can't take away from what it accomplished. It also broke all kinds of sales records at the time. The graphics were excellent and the story was great too.
I'm with Desides on this one man. Link to the Past >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ocarina But I'm old school. The SNES was the PRIME console of my younger years. N64s and PS1s were the prime consoles of the guys that are 5-8 years younger than me. It's the same reason FF7 is hailed as the best FF ever. Is it? That's arguable imo. But I think 6 is. But the way I grew up on SNES and Metroid3, and Link to the Past, and FF6.... These guys grew up on N64 with Ocarina and PS1 with FF7.
i guess thats why i hail baseball stars, tecmo bowl, and mike tysons punchout among all time favorites.
I grew up on snes don't get me wrong I loved link to the past probably as much as ocarina of time. I just still think ocarina of time is an amazing games. I still play both link to the past and ocarina all the time.
I think for myself. Link to the Past was more innovative, had more and better-designed dungeons, had more interesting locales, had better music, had better items, and was more epic in scope than Ocarina of Time. Link to the Past also had a notable lack of Navi relative to Ocarina of Time. For that it will always be the superior game. For what it's worth, my top five games, in no particular order: Metal Gear Solid 2, EarthBound, the Xenosaga series (yes, I count all three PS2 games plus spinoffs as one long entity, which it is), Quake II multiplayer, and Lufia 2.
See I do think for myself, hell I never got into game sites until I was 15+ and every game that I have ever really loved, seemed to be very highly thought of.
