If we lose Bush, we sure are putting a lot on the table for Lamar Miller, the kid has had a bum shoulder man, no doubt is talented, but is as green as grass, and his backup is injury prone..I don't think you can go into a season with your depth chart as Miller/Thomas/Gray..
That's a lot of unrealistic expectations don't ya think? Regardless of how you feel about Millers talent level.
What about the running game for Tannehill, isn't that important for this young qb's development? Or are we just gonna be all pass happy and sh&$.
Can we spend a little time thinking about if we lose Bush, cause I just don't think Lamar has done or shown enough for us to neglect the position like I think we're doing..
I actually think we don't wanna talk about it because we don't wanna face that we have to fill another hole..
I've seen a few folks talk about some Backs..CK has talked pretty extensively about Mike Goodson..DPate about Mike Turner, I would be great with looking into Chris Ivory and his restricted tag, Ahmad Bradshaw is out there, if healthy could bring some leadership and toughness to a very young unit.
Maybe the front office is trying to get Reggie to understand what a role for an offense is, and for him not to be delusional anymore about being the main man anymore.
I know this isn't fun to look at, but if we lose Bush, which I'm ok with, then we gotta make a move on someone man..

Or, we need to start talking about a back in the first three rounds, someone who has experience totin the rock like Montee ball with one of those 2nds or thirds or Jon Franklin or Step Taylor, even though their all not fast, you know what your gonna get..
Idk, I just don't think we can put everything on Millers shoulders..
If you believe that Miller was supposed to go a lot earlier, and he's a first round pick like al golden said he would of been, are you willing to bet on him as your workhorse back? Do you really think the combo of Miller/Thomas is enough for a team with a young Qb to go into a season with..
RG had Morris, and a hell of a lot of consistent 20 yard carry games.
Russell Wilson has the beast, and boy is he ever.
CKap had the beautiful combination of Gore/James.
Flacco relied on the always durable and effective Ray rice.
Brady had a fine platoon system in place and ran the ball a lot, with good effectiveness..
So what is it, are we scared to face another hole to fill, or are we that confident in a Miller/Thomas combo?
-
I don't like Ahmad Bradshaw for this system. He'd have made sense in 2011 when we traded for Reggie Bush but I'm not so sure about 2013.
I'm not all about trading picks for a Chris Ivory.
As I've said, I really like Mike Goodson. I think his combination of pass protection skills and pass catching skills, to go along with his natural ball carrying skills especially from the shotgun, would just marry very well with what we have in Lamar Miller.
I also think even though people will probably hate the idea, you've got to take a look at Danny Woodhead as a guy that could potentially take the pressure off Lamar Miller as far as trying to make Miller into a 3rd down type of pass catching back. Right now I'd rather have Miller worry about being the primary ball carrier and yard gainer.
With either one of those guys, you could also add yourself a Lonnie Pryor via the Draft or undrafted free agency if he goes undrafted, and that would give you a nice all-around set of skills in your backfield...especially with Jonas Gray as a wildcard.Bpk likes this. -
The RB position is the least of our problems IMO .They are readily available in FA and in the draft .

Ya im not too worried either. When the time comes, if it ever does, it shouldnt be too difficult to snag one. Solid running backs aren't exactly rare anymore.
P.S. The feeling I just got when I read "Mike Turner" I can sh** myself thinking about it. I would be so disappointed -
I just hope this position doesn't suffer the same neglect that the #2 tight end position did for a while. It was understood that it wouldn't take much to add a little bit to that position...yet that translated into not doing much of anything for a while.

I think Jonas Gray could still be pretty good. He was a solid runner at ND. He's a sleeper who could turn the corner and surprise a lot of people.

No offense deej, but "I'm worried about the rb position" is never something anyone should say. As has been mentioned by others, the market is flooded with backs who are capable. And Lamar Miller is a great talent. He may not be proven, but all of the ability is there and there will be ample players available as insurance. I will be pretty upset if the dolphins use a high pick on that position. Although I'm pretty confident they won't.
-
And we know Miller can produce in spurts. We don't know if he can produce shouldering (no pun intended ... ok it was intended) the load.
Two worries:
Can he produce.
Injury backup.
#2 can be taken care of with a draft pick. #1 can't. -
I'd kind of like to have Hillis just so we have a "pound it in there" type back. I worry more about short yardage situations than I really do the position as a whole.
-
Well, I'm worried, so take off you hosers ehh..
I'm gonna wait til march 12th.
"The two likely choices will be for the Saints to tender Ivory with a second-round tender, which is a one-year, $2.023 million contract, or a no-compensation tender at a $1.323 million price tag. The Saints are struggling with the salary cap so the no-compensation tender would be the thrifty way.
It would open up the door for Ivory to play elsewhere in 2013, though, as it's highly likely Ivory would receive plenty of interest from other teams willing to spend more money on the bruising running back. Plus the Saints would receive nothing if Ivory left under the no-compensation tender."
there is a chance we can get him without giving up a pick..
So I guess the consensus is to roll and count on Miller and throw in some garbage at the end.. -
Lonnie Pryor would be a fantastic late round pickup for spot duty. -
Why overlook Thigpen?
-
I think we will see Miller in bushes role with Thomas then Gray spilling in.
There are just so many backs everywhere its hard to be overly concerned about the position if you are confident in Miller.
Hell I think Kevin Smith would fit perfect in pur current scheme and he has been on the couch till mid season last 2 years -
3.5 yards a pop concerns you in this offense?
-
I would take Steven Jackson in a heart beat.
-
-
Ireland and/or Parcells have pretty consistently spoken and acted as if they believe that runningback is a two-player position. I think it's pretty likely we will see some action there in the off-season.
Don't see why Ahmad Bradshaw wouldn't be a scheme fit.Bpk likes this. -
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I think the Dolphins like Daniel Thomas much more than the fans do. I think they still think he can be a productive back. They may add someone else, but while I think most fans want to write him off, something tells me the Dolphins feel otherwise.

if it was me I would bring back Polite and sign Cadilac Williams and cut Daniel Thomas.

You don't write off Wake's position in the draft because we have wake. One ACL tear and he's gone for the year and then what?
So you guys are ok with just crossing off all the DE's in the draft and FA on Cams side, because we have Cam? Sorry I disagree.
