Today is officially my first day. It's long overdue that I gave up this habit. I'm so sick and tired of feeling like crap all the time. Not being able to breath, always coughing, sore throat, constant aches, the guilt and shame and the smell. And of course, burning my hard earned money. I'm slowly killing myself and today is the day I turn it around. I can be strong.

    Wish me luck!

Dude, best of luck. I've done some pretty stupid things in my life but Ive never smoked cigarettes. Some things just leave a lasting image in your mind when youre a kid, for me that was watching my grandparents cough up buckets of blood after smoking for 40 years then dying. Yep, bleepin gross. True story, hope that helps :)

Good for you. I've never smoked in my life, but my dad did and I hated it. Thankfully he kicked the habit about 10 years ago.

Good luck bro, my wife quit before we were married and it was tough for her, but it can be done if you focus and stay committed. Hope you have success!

Good luck man. I did this a week ago. I am using the nicotine lozenges and they really seem to help. also, i downloaded an app to my phone called quit now. it tracks how many cigs you havent smoked, how much money you have saved, minutes of your life you've saved, tracks achievements and gives you time frames of when your taste is back to normal, heart attack risk is lowered, etc. i highly suggest it. it's helping me to stay motivated.

I love to smoke. I can't help it that I enjoy it.
Plus it cuts down on those drooling years later on.

It will be tough but you will be glad you did it once you realize how draining cigarettes can be on your health, wallet, and life!

    Good for you!

    My dad smokes
    My step mom smokes
    My step sister smokes

I don't. I live in a house with three other people who smoke and deal with the second hand smoke. They smoke in the living room. I watch them complain about money and waste it on cartons of cigarettes. My dad coughs every morning when he wakes up like clock work. It's how I know he's awake. They talk about quitting, but they bought electronic cigarettes to quit.

    My uncle quit cold turkey.
My mom quit cold turkey after smoking for years. She has mild emphysema.
My step grandmother smoked for years and has been on oxygen for 10 of those.
    My aunt smokes.
    My other aunt smokes.
    My cousin smoke(d?) - he's 15ish.
    My brother smokes.
    My grandparents used to smoke.
My other uncle used to smoke.

I think the way to quit cigarettes is cold turkey. You have to know it's what you want. No amount of patch that puts a small amount of nicotine in your body is going to help you quit craving nicotine, IMO, but i have a very addictive personality.

No, it pushes that forward a decade or so and makes you drool blood and mucus instead of saliva. About 4 months since my last cigarette. Highly recommend (good) e-cig for the first month or so.

Kudos to you guys for quitting. My mom used to smoke, but she used the nicotine patch to quit.

I'm highly sensitive to smoke. I recoil when someone around me was smoking ten minutes before. I can still smell it on the clothing.
