Trading Thigpen will yield them nothing. Certainly nothing more than they gave up to get him. A fourth round pick is not worth it and a perfect example is White. They reached to get him and he is a waste of a pick. Qb's are hard enough to come by so when you have one that seems like he actually might make a decent starter down the road, you should keep him. My opinion of course...

Thigpen is worth more to us than what we could get for him in a trade. I think that alone speaks volumes.

BY FAR! Love when people sugguest we can get a 5th for this guy or a 7th for that guy, when players usually selected with those picks are nowhere guaranteed to even make the team.

If we keep PW and trade Thigpen, I will be very upset. This FO has a track record of not being too smooth when it comes to building a player's trade value, I expect Pat White gets cut or we'll be lucky to get a 7th rounder for the kid.

That's actually impossible to say right now. The 2011 draft isn't here yet, nor have we played the 2011 season to see the results of our 2011 picks.... so you can't say with ANY accuracy that Thiggy is worth more to us than what we could get for him in trade.

Combining how well we draft WITH the quality of the 2011 draft, it's entirely possible that we net a starter at another position from his acquired pick. What if that starter becomes a Pro-Bowl free safety?.... or a quality NT who allows us to start Odrick, Soliai, and Starks up front? Would we be "better off" with a 3rd string QB than a starter from another position?

That's assuming we even come close to acquiring a player with that type of talent. Odds are, Thigpen is going to end up better than the draft pick we trade him for because that draft pick may not be so high.

the case of getting a starter for thiggy is weak argument Imo. it is case of overthinking, reality says 5th rd picks are depth ajority, & if do start, then usually takes a couple years.

Ok...... So what does that say about a player who could only net a 5th rounder? It would say that he's not THAT special to begin with. So using your logic, you're actually the one overthinking it.

By the way, a starter is a starter is a starter...... doesn't matter if it takes a few years or not. However, Thigpen definitely will not be the #1 here. You're overthinking the value of a 3rd string QB.

IMO it makes more sense to develop a QB with a skill set that is more consistent with Henne's and our starting offense.... and IMO it's counterproductive to force a square peg fit into a round hole b/c Thiggy's ability as a player is not maximized by our starting offense..... and it's counterproductive to change an offense that's been practicing a certain way all season so that it better fits the backup QB who is suddenly thrust into playing.

    Here is a better question

With Arizona close to giving up on Leinart and Anderson looks like he will start, the Cards are close to the top in that division, they won't want Thigpen, but if they asked for Pennington, would you make that trade?

Only for the right price and if CP agrees to come back here as a coach once his career is over...
