Word came from Peter King of SI.com on Tuesday morning that Bills guard Richie Incognito is considering retiring before the start of the 2018 season and Incognito shared some of his thoughts with another reporter later in the day. Incognito spoke to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News and his comments suggest that he’s leaning pretty far in the direction of retiring. Incognito cited health concerns as the reason. “I’m done. That’s it. It’s been a long career,” Incognito said. “Went to the doctor. My liver and kidneys are shutting down. The stress is killing me. It’s just about doing what’s right. I just want to be in the Hall of Fame.” Incognito also sent a tweet to the NFLPA saying he’s done. King’s initial tweet said that Incognito could return at the “right price” after agreeing to a pay cut earlier this year. King followed up with another saying that Incognito is talking to the Bills about revisiting his deal and has until Sunday to change his mind about calling it a career. If Incognito does retire, he’ll join center Eric Wood as 2017 Bills starters to walk away from the game this offseason. They also traded left tackle Cordy Glenn to the Bengals, although Dion Dawkins got 11 starts as a rookie while Glenn was injured.
Although he's always been a decent lineman, very few make it into the HOF and he certainly is not part of that elite few. Add in the misconduct off the field, the reputation for being dirty, etc and there's a better chance he ends up in prison than the HOF.
Don’t mind him leaving and creating a new hole in their offensive line. We need all the help we can get!
That was my thinking also. He was a good player but I don't think he has Hall of Fame numbers either. When I think of him I don't think "he was a HOF guy" smell test.
LOL, I think Bullygate plays in his favor for a HOF bid. When your fellow teammates run home to mommy because the squad leader is too intense, I think that's a nod in the right direction. =)
I don't understand how some of you are even briefly entertaining the idea Incognito might be deserving of the HOF. He maxed out at pretty good, and that was only ever for a couple of years. I don't know that they let him in even if he buys a ticket and promises nicely not to shout the N-word at anyone.
Not the sharpest tool in the shed: As it stands, Incognito now will be required to return not only the $1 million he received up front as part of his agreement to slash his total compensation by $1.625 million but to pay back, potentially, the $1.15 million in previously-paid signing-bonus money that he was due to actually earn this year.
What price his health? If his liver and kidneys are shot (PED anyone?) then the money just doesn’t come in to pkay.
I think Richie is in the all time bully boy arsehole HOF for sure. Just the sandpaper condom alone will live forever for me!

I hated the guy long before the terrible events that went down with Martin. Limited player on the field, overpaid, and a total waste of a human being. One of the players I dislike the most in my 30+ years of watching pro sports. Good riddance.
One of my favorite Dolphins players. If we had kept him we wouldn' have gone through the last couple abysmal years with the oline. A throwback to an earlier era. Not Hal of fame but not as far away as some seem to think.

It seems as if Incognito and his teammates regularly made racial slurs against each other in jest. And I see nothing wrong with two guys bantering in a friendly manner. Would I call some stranger I just met a name? Any name? No. If a friend of mine and I have a relationship were we bust each other's chops...yes. He sexually assaulted a woman? I didn't hear about this. When?

Yes he is an idiot, but he was totally screwed over in the whole Bullygate thing. Many may be dismissive of his play at guard for some reason but the fact remains we still haven't replaced him at guard even now. I'm not certain if that speaks to how good he was for us or the woeful pile of turds we've had since he left. Most likely both. But Hall Of Fame? C'mon, get real.
The idea that he got screwed over is pretty pathetic. He's done the same **** over and over, and repeatedly to people who aren't his peers or teammates, and to people he has power over. And on top of that, Josh Sitton is certainly a guy who has been better than Incognito for longer.
Technically vaginas are much stronger than *****. Though Incognito was screwed over by being a terrible human being and has no one to blame other than himself. Not even counting the Martin issue.
What gets lost in the bully issue, (refuse to call it gate because gate is not a postfix.) is how bad he was playing that season. He was freaking terrible. Couldn't run or pass block that year. Spent way too much time in strip clubs doing cocaine.

I never cared about Bullygate and always said it was blown out of proportion. Incognito is scum because he molested a woman volunteering at a Dolphin charity event.
