And for good reason, this is the second time Shefter put out a hit piece on Incognito this year. He should sue for libel.
Well, plenty on here were ready to string him up as already guilty. Glad it's all for nothing. I'll complain/whine a little as a Buckeyes fan. SI did a front page article about a litany of NCAA violations by the Buckeyes. ALL of them were proven false, but they sure didn't do a front page article apologizing for their false allegations. Just saying that the allegations can do a lot of damage.
Would anyone be surprised if the story was accurate? Cogs is one of the dirtiest players in the NFL. I love it that he's dirty, but usually there's no on/off switch with a guy like that.
Already sick of this story.I think its all bull**** myself and martin is just overly sensitive but espn can't let it go so I hope it blows up in their face.
Ah... Mando. Although, in a way he is actually correct... I know, gasp right? If Philbin had said, "this is an internal matter, we are handling it internally, I won't comment on it to you," maybe that would have stopped it from festering as Armando says. In a way he tried to say that but he left the door open. I guess if you say what I'm suggesting, you're admitting that something wrong happened. And if each side was still in info gathering mode, probably not the wisest thing to come out and say. Delicate situation to say the least.
This really sucks... Its almost like out of all the teams this nonsense could happen to. . Ofcourse its the phins.. the last thing we need is something like this right now whether its true or typical mountain out of a molehill horrid reporting... But it just seems like these ridiculous stories have become the dolphins MO.
That's what he did say. This is getting ****ing ridiculous. The local media are acting like the ****ing mob. Philbin has NEVER answered injury questions and nor should he. He doesn't owe the local media **** and they need to quit acting like he does. The reason he doesn't, is because they twist and lie about everything and will then make him and the team pay for giving the info. Its absurd.
Lots of messenger-killing going on in this thread. So, we don't actually care if this happens or not, we just care if the media makes it known? OK.
I hate this era of twitter/facebook/instant gratification and news. Nothing good ever comes from it and people can blatantly make **** up and that pile of crap is accessible to anyone with the internet. BS travels way too fast and people literally have no consequence for "reporting" said BS. If ESPN were still a credible sports news station, these people would be held accountable. They aren't anymore though...ESPN is no better than MTV or TMZ at this point. I have been watching NBCsports station a lot more lately and find myself a happier person.
very good post and I have been thinking that this is exactly the problem with the media because it seems to me that they go out of their way to trash us . don't you think all this drama is partly on the coach ? it is time for us to rebuild our image and the team both . this drama does nothing but undermines our team.
WTF are you even talking about? This incident with Martin was framed as a bullying incident by the media. No one form either camp called it that. The media flat out exaggerated the incident with zero information. That;'s not being a messenger, that's being a liar.
How is the coach responsible for the media that covers his team taking out a vendetta against him? He won't give them injury information or tell them what exact schemes he is running during the game. The Miami media was used to getting whatever they want and now someone is willing to keep them at bay. The Miami media just can't tolerate it so they want to flex their muscle to try and get a response from him. I am glad he hasn't budged.
So your going to judge his character based on what you've seen from him on the field ? Because he's perhaps the nicest, most personable guy on the whole team. Schefter was way off the first time......... caught throwing darts......so the point is, you shoulndt be surprised if the report is wrong.
Makes what known? What are they (media) making known? Because all thats come out of the Martin camp is that it's the NFL culture and never mentioned bullying, not once, ever, so what is the media being "let known"? Sounds to me that its less to do with the Dolphins and more to do with the NFL or the NHL or the NBA or any sports league where this kind of culture exists. My guess is that if he was with the Bears or Giants ect. this would still be an issue with him...as of now that's all we have from either side, anything else is speculation, anyone these days can have a "source" because that is the magical "I can make up whatever i want" card.
Not sure if this has been mentioned : http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...t-dolphins-player-broke-after-paying-for-vets Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Jonathan Martin isn't returning to the team anytime soon. Martin is expected to be placed on the non-football injury (NFI) list this week following his departure from the team for emotional reasons, and the Dolphins organization will deal with stories suggesting systemic issues of how their young players are treated. ESPN reported Sunday that guard Richie Incognito convinced Martin to contribute $15,000 to help finance a trip to Las Vegas, even though Martin didn't go on the trip. Other reported instances of intimidation reportedly are captured on voicemails and texts So effing tired of being a dysfunctional franchise , if Cognito or any other player abused their role/position/responsibility , I would cut their *** in a heartbeat. This team isn't going deep in the playoffs till crap like we have had is addressed and fundamentally changed imo .
I'm not taking sides because I think it's about a grown man not able to take some jokes, but being labeled big weirdo when you first get here, and making fun of someone's unattractive ness could be harmful to a sensitive dude..I'm sure that got old after a while, and I'm sure they prolly kept it up.
Umm, are you aware of what this topic is about ?????? Apparently not, just eager to **** on other opinions, looking foolish in the process.
The problem is there are conflicting reports throughout [mainly] social media that contradicts what Schefty and others are reporting. It looks like and feels like a witch hunt rather than any kind of in depth reporting on all this. I fault, to some extent, our FO and staff for not coming out and making some concrete statements to either justify or negate the media onslaught....
Jokes are one thing , being pressured in the ways that are being brought out is entirely a different aspect imo . If the claims are indeed true , this is so uncool and the entire team will again be drenched in a very very unpleasant stench. Ultimately someone needs to stop , change , address issues that need it . We will see if the ball was dropped.
I wouldn't consider a locker room or playing football a workplace..learning to laugh at oneself is essential to learn in life..
Understand your point , but where there is smoke there usually is fire imo . The state they have a trail(s) of texts and messages , so if true it will be proved. We do know the stance Pouncey took , which imho was totally , totally disrespectful and distasteful.
What I mean is, if it is what I think it is, I can understand why he might get hurt, he's young, however, I don't consider that bullying, I consider it guys going a bit too far trying to joke around.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9...rmal-complaint-due-fear-retribution-teammates Ugh look at that. It is really hard to determine who to believe here. Dolphins paying the PR cost regardless of what is true.
From before , defending the POS Hernandez. IMO , there is no way you make any statement in defense of Hernandez.
Bah! Philbin has said since this whole thing started he would not comment on it. I don't think that is his place either. he has steadfastly stated he would only comment on things football related and about players currently practicing/playing. this is the media pure and simple. they aren't getting what they want and now are on a witch hunt and using the stance of the press to make themselves look unbiased and point the finger at the team and Incognito. I think Ross needs to come out and say this is enough. tell the media that things are being handled internally and in conjunction with the NFL/NFLPA and that he will start barring media from the practice field PC's if they don't start respecting all involved here. not sure if he could actually bar them but i certainly would let them know I was serious.
Why would you consider playing football or a locker room a workplace? Learning to laugh at oneself is essential to learn in life. Still not an excuse to be treated like crap at work.
I can understand the coach not commenting extensively , he needs to address it somehow though. Even if it is like Bellichek , making a short statement and then saying he won't make any further comments. The team , Ross , Ireland ??? , someone does need to do this imo . Significant negative stories that affect your team , and the fans do deserve to not be treated like mushrooms , again imo.
I am liking Schefter less all the time. This, combined with his negative comments about our 17-0 team celebrating the defeat of the last unbeaten team every year. He is moving into Fred Edelstein territory.
