    Some may see it as a wonderful return to tradition but it will imperil the 40+ years of work done since Vatican II regarding relations with Protestants.

    The same week the Vatican signed the "Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification" with Lutherans around the world, 10/31/1999, a different office of the Church first promulgated a paper which has now led to the work sited in this article.

    One step forward, two steps back.

    That's a link to the joint declaration. I have trouble reconciling the two.

    One positive step is that at least these new indulgences aren't up for sale in the crass, marketing fashion of the 16th century.
