Aside from Wilfork, who I would LOVE to see back in Miami, there are some good options who are UFA's.

    Casey Hampton, 32, Pitt

    Ryan Pickett, 30, SF

    Aubrayo Franklin, 29, SF

    Tank Johnson, 28, Cinci

Taking care of this need before the draft would be a VG thing.

    Opinions on the above players?

for me it depends on several things. some of which include how the front office feels we are to a superbowl run because i largely think we're rebuilding still. another thing is cost. i think they would just re-sign ferg. if they were going to pick up any of these guys. he was playing well before he got injured.

if the need is that big we'll draft one because we're building for not just our immediate future but for down the road.

I just can't believe Jay Ratcliff of the cowboys was a 7th round pick, this guy is explosive, and he was picked by our Boyz..maybe lets try to strike lighting again and look for a project in the later rounds.

So no one believes Paul Soliai can get the job done?

Pickett is most likely. I don't see Franklin leaving SF. Tank Johnson struggled as a one gap nose in Dallas IIRC and said he didnt' like the position. Hampton has had issues in Pittsburgh with coaches so he may be available, depending on what they think they have with Ziggy Hood and Chris Hoke - he filled in pretty damn well last time Hampton was injured.

I still wouldn't mind a mid to late round nose.

Some do, some don't. He's pretty good but he's also had some issues.

Paul Solai can more than get the job done
    however in a 3/4
you need 2 starting calibre NT's 4 rotation

it is a hole to fill w/ Ferguson on the way out
    would
take a couple of seasons to learn the position

in order of importance (draft/free-agency) for 2010:
    1) ILB
    2) WR (PlayMaker)
    3) NT
    4) Guard

(McFadden @ RB would be a sweet & timely acquisition from the Raiders)

Last year, I would have agreed. Not this year. I believe that we could be special in 2010, and any NT drafted is not going to help as much as a vet.

The young guys coming out are not going to be able to handle NFL OL's in their first year. JMO

Soliai has REALLY improved. I thought he was gonna be a bust. We still need another. Ferg, as much as I like him, is not going to fill the need. McDaniel is good vs the pass but not wide enough to plug the middle.

Probably dreams of him running the Wildcat.

Not the type of back Parcells likes, he prefers a bruiser.

I would be shocked if they eve sniffed at him.

i could see him running the wildcat.. i think he used to in college along with.. um felix jones i think?

but like you say i don't think he's the big physical back we'd look at.. that doesn't mean it's not possible just i haven't seen too much of mcfadden and the most i've heard is that he's pretty injury prone.

Yeah, any nose coming out is VERY unlikely to get the job done.

McFadden would be very interesting in the WC. He could leave Ronnie open to trade bait.

Unfortunately, I think the Redskins and Haynsworth may have set the bar too high for FA DTs.
A guy like Wilfork would be great; but at what price?
Furthermore, I think the Pats will do what they can to either keep him or make it very, very expensive for another team to acquire him. They pretty much made it clear that they wanted to keep Wilfork when they traded away Seymour.
Best thing is to hope Ferguson can come back and help Soliai to further develop.

a Franchise RB that can do it all
& may by caprice come available

Miami has showed much recent interest in the Raiders
& Al Davis may lose interest in McFadden soon
he falls in love & out again w/ tremendous facility
Parcells & Co. have surely been watching how things play out.

McFadden would be a long time answer to an eventual & inevitable situation @ RB

what do I see in him? one of the best RB's in football
nothing more, nothing less  the guy would be a definitive answer

Actually, I could see our FO looking into McFadden if they believe they can correct his fumbling problem. He's got the size to line up out wide - 6'2, 210#. He could run the WC really well. He's just got to learn to hold onto the ball better.

The Pats have not been known to pay high priced FA's. I can only hope we take a shot.

Imagine how much better Starks, Langford, and Merling would be with a Wilfork in the middle.

I like McFadden as well. He seems lost in Oakland but, who isn't other than Crazy Al?

Let Tuna tell Al that Ginn is faster, and the end around will make up for whatever yards McFadden can gain. Even trade. LOL

    sporting his Jason Taylor jersey
which is a sign for me to reach for the old #32

The NFL really needs to drug test owners. I have no idea what Al is taking.

We need a second NT to rotate through. I believe that at worst we can have Ferg for one more season if we want him. If not, I'd probably go with a FA or later round pick. The colleges just don't produce many NTs, so other than a few options you usually have to take powerful DTs and develop them.
