I only go that route because, like when Daboll came in, we could move the ball well between the 20's, but our redzone offense was poor. Keeping drives alive is something we already do well and Tannehill has been damn good on 3rd down.

Statistically, Bess has done his best work outside of the slot. He ends up in the middle of the field a fair amount, but he starts on the outside a lot. His best years are outside heavy and slot light. Even on Sunday against ARI he did some good things on the outside.

Nothing is enough unless you win the SB.

Technically, and not in regard to signing receivers, it was not enough. The Dolphins have two open roster spots.

    Enough for now yes.

Going forward they still need to address WR in addition to the secondary and TE.

I have maintained since before the season that Bess and Hartline (if healthy) were fine as starting WRs for this year. They still needed a WR or TE to fill that 3rd spot and I hoped that out of Gates, Matthews, Moore, Egnew or Clay one would step up. I still think it was a mistake to cut Gates. They could/should have kept him over Nanee. So I would say they were already passable. The signing of Gaffney and Armstrong adds another hope for that 3rd spot to be filled and provides some injury insurance.

With Holmes out for the season, we'll probably find out whether or not it was a mistake to cut Gates. I agree with you though, even if he sucks wind for the Jets he's still better than Naanee.

I would think (hope?) that avenue has been explored, and either the Steelers aren't particularly interested in trading him or they want a lot more than a 2nd. I suspect that if you could get him for just a 2nd there'd be a handful of teams already waiting in line.

I heard a rumor that Ireland had been trying that route but that Pitt had refused any overtures.

They need to bring in someone who can pick our game up a little, but who won't cost any draft picks, will sign cheap, and most importantly, won't make a radical difference in our won-loss record and thereby ruin our draft position. Gaffney is the perfect choice.

    Not even close...

That said, it is enough for THIS year.
It's about all they could do without burning draft picks to chase a trade for a WR that may or may not make a huge difference this year.

Gaffney is better than Naanee without a doubt so it's definitely an upgrade.
