He's not terrible. Injuries have put him in positions he's just not good enough to handle. If he was only ever the third or fourth corner, he'd be great. Jimmy Wilson needs to be gone first. Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk
He's been pretty good this year. He's good for what he's supposed to be, which is a #3 or #4 corner. Due to injuries he's been forced to cover the opposing offenses's top players many times, and IMO he's held it together relatively well EDIT: as KingMotion said. The axe to grind this year in the secondary is with J. Wilson or Reshad Jones
He's been the #3 boundary corner the last two years and has performed like a solid starter when called up, and has an inexpensive contract. I'm glad he's on the roster, and if he can be reasonably retained to be the primary backup corner I'd love to see them do it.
Sigh. I really wonder sometimes if fans actually watch the games. There probably isn't a more improved player on the team than Nolan Carroll right now. You guys do realize that the team has given up exactly 1 TD to a wide receiver this year, right?
The dude had a great game last Sunday, would of had a for sure pick 6 on newton if wheeler doesn't tip the ball.. I've been hard on him previously but after that game, man he was on point.
He's been quite good. Even as a starter he's performed well. When Patterson is in the mix it's a formidable trio. For the OP, why do you want him gone? - sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 beta -
Do peoole just sit around and go..hmmm..I'm bored. Im going to start a thread about ...yehhhh Nolan Carol. And..its gonna be...why I am tired of him...yehhh..and how we need to get rid of him..yehhhhhh Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Nolan Carroll's dropped interception in the Panthers game that would have put the nail in the coffin. I'm just salty, that's all.
He's a solid #4 corner. Hopefully, the two rookies can get healthy and ready, and put him into that role for next season. I like him as a backup.
If Patterson could stay healthy, and that's not likely, the phins would have 3 very solid corners. Nolan may not be a game changer but he isn't going to get you beat. Look no further than what Tom Brady did to Denver's corner when Rodgers-Cromartie got hurt this past week.
Been waiting all year for this. Really want these guys to get some reps and see what we have with them. I'm hoping we don't have to use any picks on DB's next year.
Miami actually has 4 solid corners. Brent Grimes, Dimitri Patterson, Nolan Carroll, and Jimmy Wilson are all rated in the top 55 corners according to PFF.
Wilson has been good too. Good point. I guess R. Jones has been the biggest disappointment based on bang for your buck. I read Omar stating his coverage responsibility has changed since the LB's struggle in coverage. Don't know if that is true or not.
Have to say I think he has been much improved this year. His man coverage has been pretty tight most of the year. definitely a number 3 corner though.
No issues with carrol. Why jamar Taylor and will Davis are sitting while jimmy Wilson continues to fail is my issue,
It's being reported that Jamar Taylor wouldn't of practiced today.. What the hell is wrong with that kid man... That hernia must just be a pain in the crotchal region...just gets the freakin surgery already.. Love the kid but get your sh&$ fixed.
Not bad at all. Toss in Jones and Clemons and we've got a secondary with 3 5th rounders, a 7th rounder, a waiver wire pickup and a FA that only costs us 5 Millie. Who dat say we gonna fire Jeff Ireland?
Jimmy Wilson isn't doing badly. Actually neither of them are. For 3rd and 4th corners, you could do a lot worse than Carroll and Wilson. Due to Patterson's health issues though, both have been bumped up a notch. Patterson has allowed the 2nd lowest passer rating among corners this season. 36.1. Carroll has allowed the 12th, 64.5, and Wilson the 18th lowest, 69.4. Grimes is 20th at 69.6. Griping about the corners this season is really really looking for something to complain about. There are many much greater concerns with this team than corner.
While Im not 100% sold on Carroll... IMO he's had... at times a rough year, at times a spectacular year. Hes been as inconsistent as the rest of this team IMO. Carolina might have been the best game I've seen him play. That pick was beautiful... just BEAUTIFUL! At times though he's been roasted bigtime. I think he's a good player, as a third corner at best. He can handle 2nd duties, but be prepared to cough up something... at some point, overall though... we could do much worse than him.
Again I think some of our fans don't watch other teams play. Week after week we see other teams get torched yet our CBs have only given up one TD pass to a receiver all year. What has gotten us defensively is the fact that our LBs are limited in coverage which has changed Jones' responsibilities. As well, we've had leaky run defense for the past month or so. Again much of that responsibility rests with the LBs.
One to a wide receiver apparently. Carroll has given up 2 TDs, Wilson and Taylor, one each. Wilson's was to Jimmy Graham I think, and Taylor's definitely was to Graham.
I'm more tired of Patterson. He has looked great when he's on the field, which is hardly ever. Story of his career. Not sure his 2/3 great games is worth the money ($3.5MM?).
I wanted Carroll cut before the season. I've been pleasantly surprised with his overall play this year.
There was no reason to cut Carroll last season, either. He got a bad reputation in general off of I dunno what.
Yeah I meant wide receiver. The whole league is giving up TDs to John Jerry...errr I mean Jimmy Graham.
I dunno why, he was a pretty typical starting cornerback last year. He didn't suddenly and miraculously because a roster-able player this year.
