"...All of these factors, as well as the motivation provided by his pending contract extension, could lead to the type of "Run-Ricky-Run" production that could instantly catapult Brown to larger-than-life status amongst Dolphins fans." http://www.realfootball365.com/articles/dolphins/14175 Give it a quick read and let me know what you think. Thanks!
I really hope he would,But if he has not done it by now chances are slim that he will.I say he gets another 850 to 900 yards and by no means is that bad.
maybe Ricky is on the verge of a Ricky-like legendary season just think if we had two Ricky-Like Legends in the backfield anything is possible we already know that Williams is a ProvenBull Run Ricky Run & Ronnie, Run like Ricky Run! I can hear it now, the chant echoing through the stadium wouldn't that be nice! the Tandem from Hell burning up the NFL turf! think about it
i don't think Ronnie will even have an opportunity to have a 'legendary' season ... i see him being limited to no more than 20 touches a game ... we aren't going to ride him 25-30 a game if you want to use his versatility (multi-dimension) as the basis for 'legendary' status ... then i would agree this would likely be his season for that, and i hope that he is successful.
I don't see this coaching staff utilizing Brown much in the passing game, or giving him more than 15 carries per game. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if Ronnie runs at a 5ypc clip this season.
you can define legendary, elite, whatever you'd like anyway you would want to in uplifting Brown however the simple truth is it would be a wonderful thing if Ronnie was on the verge of a Ricky-like legendary season personally, I hope they both are on the verge of Ricky-like legendary seasons
If he had a season where he got the ball 220 times and got 1100 yards I would think that is pretty good.
if the Orca-5 do their job both Ronnie & Ricky will surpass 1100 yards in 2009 If neither one can gain @ least kind of yardage then there will be no legend to speak of this season my expectation is a 3000 yards combined season on the ground this is designed to be a run-first offense. no excuses. now, we're talking legendary
It's certainly possible. As you said, hugo; Brown will be interesting to watch this year. I will say I do not agree with the fans who conclude that since he hasn't done it yet, he's not going to. Brown was on his way to a career season in 07. After 7 games he had accumulated 602 yds rushing at 5.1 ypc. and 4 TDs. Plus 389 yd rcving at 10 ypr and 1 TD.....and no fumbles. Last year they purposely limited his carries. Sparano has indicated that his year they plan on unleashing him. So, he'll have his chance.
I think he'll have 1200+ yards rushing and 10 TDs... That's a pretty good season, IMO. I don't really expet an 1800 yard, 16 TD season or anything like that though.
i see just the opposite. it's why we drafted white..you have your best reciever running the wildcat.ronnie can run and catch while white can run and pass, imo he will open up the passing game so much more being put back at the hb position.im sure we will still see him run the wc but nowhere near as often as last yr.
Ronnie AND Ricky will blow away the competition, but the attack will be so balanced Ronnie will not have a "break-out" year, though I do expect him to get 1,200+ yards running and close to 300 receiving. That will be just fine with me! Ricky will get 700 & 250 respectively, with Cobbs getting another 250+ in various roles. That would be over 2,700 yards from our RB's and one hell of a season for our OL and offense. I forgot to mention Lousaka Polite will get 17 yards on 18 - 1 yard first down runs.
Well, to me we will know what sort of season Ronnie is going to have early in the season, the Oline will be fresh and we play some of the weaker defenses we will face all season. If Ronnie starts the season quickly and shows he can handle the load we could see something special out of Ronnie B, I don't know if he will be 1,800 yds special as that would require 320+ carries.
I would have to agree that Ronnie will never see enough touches to come close to that year Ricky had. Ricky got way to many carries for a RB in my opinion. I could see using him like that in certain games but he got pounded the whole season. He was an Earl Campbell waiting to happen.
The problem is, Ronnie Brown would have to average 5 yds + a carry going against some seriously tough defenses. RW's 1,800 yds would take Ronnie 360 carries and averaging five yds per, which seems really unlikely imho.
This is a great read. I think he can have that kind of season. It would nice to see. Would it happen? I don't think so but it is definitely possible.
Id have to go with no. Not because I dont think he isn't capable, but because we won't have a run, run, run punt offense. Between Ronnie, Ricky, Patrick, Chaddy, Pat and WC, i just don think so.
I say: just make it happen, go for it, do it. the Tandem from Hell will burn the NFL turf in 2009! our ground game will lead the way to the play-offs may they run like the wind penetrating the gaps opened in the defense by the Orca-5
Think it may be wise to lower our expections on that 3000 yard rushing season. NFL season rushing record... YARDS GAINED Most Yards Gained Rushing, Season 3,165 New England, 1978 3,088 Buffalo, 1973 2,986 Kansas City, 1978
