Every time I see someone's mock of our top five picks, there are a few very good players in there.

It got me wondering... With five picks in the top 100, and some deep top 100 talent is there any way for Ireland to conceivably blow this draft? Worst case scenario, who could he select (within reason, value wise) in those picks and totally blow this draft?

I keep looking at big boards and I don't think it's possible to blow it this year, even if you tried.

For example, here is me trying to avoid good players, while still selecting players with our picks who are reasonably close to that value (within a round anyways)... Only one-round reaches allowed....

    12) DE Margus Hunt (ridiculous reach.. No way Ireland is this dumb) or OT DJ Fluker
    42) WR Da'Rick Rogers
    54) DE Sam Montgomery (no CB, but we double with two DEs I dislike? Not good.)
    77) RB Knile Davis (who promptly injures himself in minicamp and is IR'd)
    82) QB Tyler Bray (this would truly be a wtf moment for me. we don't need a QB. bray is very inaccurate. Would hate this pick)

Those are so unrealistic.. And even so, I STILL think one or two of those picks would turn out pretty well.

So maybe it is almost impossible, no matter who Ireland picks, for us to screw up tis draft.

Do you think you can choose our top five picks without selecting a single player you believe will be good at the next level?

I'd love to see your worst-case scenario mocks....

Easy for me - then again I have players I absolutely hate. HATE. If Ireland went after positions I loved but players I hated (foregoing other guys there especially) I'd vomit.

#12 - D. Moore DE from A&M (prefer a guy like Carradine here)
#42 - Barret Jones OG Alabama (much prefer Larry Warford)
#54 - Robert Woods WR USC (Oh my god Id go insane if we chose him over Bailey or Swope 20 picks later)

I'd stop watching. Three overrated prospects filling needs where we could have gotten much better quality (again, assuming)

Agree on Moore... But have a feeling Woods, while unspectacular, has a high enough floor that he can't bust. I don't want Woods either btw.

    What are your third rounders?

Ill agree on woods as well, I don't think he busts in the NFL, he's pretty well rounded a receiver, not fast not slow, good not great hands, not huge but not tiny either... He'd flourish with the texans

When Fin-O hits the club, 0/5 is typical for him, so we should probably wait for his arrival in this thread.

    1. Kenny Vaccaro (FS). Can't see this guy being anything more that an average safety at the next level, he's a decent run support safety but has major problems in pass protection in what is a passing league, Cyprien will be a better player.

    2. Terron Armstead (OT). He's an athletic freak but currently he's a horrible football player; no kick slide and looks like he'll get beaten almost every play, he could be developed but would be a big risk.

    2. Margus Hunt (DE). Similar to Armstead, athletic freak but not brilliant at the technical aspects of his position, its a lot easier to bully college lineman with size and athleticism than it is their counterparts in the NFL.

    3. Da'Rick Rodgers (WR). Isn't as quick as he thinks he is, conduct problems that could crop up again, i'm not sure what his role would be in our offence.

    3. Blidi Wreh-Wilson (CB). Everyone's in love with the guys speed after his pro day but it doesn't show up on tape, struggles with his hips at times and missed time with a knee injury before.

Some arguable ones in there, but i think we'd miss out big time if these guys were drafted.

Disagree on Vacarro. I don't see him as having much bust potential.

It's quite possible. It isn't unheard for a draft class to end up with no one who is really a noteworthy contributor, but I think it is unlikely in these circumstances. It's a rarity for Ireland and it is even more unlikely with the number of picks.

And that gives me a lot of confidence in this draft. Truly, it would be a Herculean feat to get zero (eventual) starters out of those first five picks.

When you consider that we actually have 11 total picks, Ireland has positioned us to be almost fail-proof on this draft.

Even when we try for worst case scenarios there are a couple arguably decent players in there.
