That we let Kenny Stills walk? Jarvis, DeVante, Leonte, Jakeem, and Marshawn--I like the the sound of it. Hopefully Grant and Carroo can work in meaningful offensive snaps. Financially, I don't see how Parker and Stills fit long term. I do think Jakeem has a lot to offer the offense in terms of misdirection, bubble screens, and creating mis matches in coverage. I liked Carroos game in college...hopefully working with Jarvis in the off-season will help him on the field.
Tannenbaum said he was a priority. If Julius is taking a pay cut, combined with cutting Jenkins, Jordan and Misi, there should be plenty money to keep our own too. I will say this, not having a 3rd or 4th, and not sure where the comp picks will be, makes me believe we will be a lot busier in FA than I anticipated. Let's face it, at 22 you cant get an elite DE. I'd hate to see it, but I think it is entirely possible. I think the asking price is going to be too high and it will set a bad precedent for the contracts we are going to have to dish out to Landry and Parker. Unless Kenny is going to give a pretty good discount, 8 Mil per, I really doubt it is going to happen. I have seen based on other contracts for guys with similar production in the 13 - 14 range.
I think Kenny Stills is a deal that's imperative to get done. He's a huge part of this offense on and off the stat sheet. Parker... He's the one who's future is up in the air IMO. He hasn't lived up to expectations. He shows flashes of it on the field, but it's been suggested he's not been "tough enough" to play through it, nor has he been as professional about his craft as he needs to be at this level. Hopefully Gase got the point across to him. I think he can certainly be our Demarious Thomas, but he's got to grow and progress into that role NOW. If the picture was clearer with him, then maybe you can look at a different way to replace Stills. With respect to Landry, I think as long as Gase is here, he's here. I think he's a favorite because of the way he plays, and he's reliable. Jakeem could be in trouble. His lack of offensive contribution, and lack of ball security on special teams put him in a tough spot. He could be a damn good weapon if we figured out a way to use him, if he found a way to become a reliable target worthy of playing time. As for Carroo... I really don't understand this one. His college game was good. Clearly the team liked him enough to give up picks for him. However, with all that going for him he also rarely saw the field. Now, a lot of that could have been because of the emergence of Kenny Stills, but even with Parker was out Carroo still didn't seem to take advantage of any opportunities. I too hope that a full year in the program, and an offseason working with Tannehill and the other WR's on getting better helps him, but at this point he's got an uphill climb too. I don't see him as an option to replace Kenny Stills. They're different players IMO. He's not going to do the things Stills can do to a defense IMO.
Mngt has to be crazy to depend on Parker at this point. Parker does not take the top off. Stills did. We revert back to a conservative offense if we let him walk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Agreed. Not the same skillset or player. It's too bad Parker has missed so much time, it'd be nice to have a better idea what he can do. We've seen glimpses, but we've also seen him invisible too. I'd love to know what he'd be now if he hadn't missed so much time. A viable replacement for Stills I think if we can't get a deal done with Kenny.
