Was he highly recruited out of High School like Louis Ellis was?

No clue, but here is some stuff that I dug up on him before we signed him.

If Thomas is out of the year, as was reported (still awaiting confirmation), then we're screwed along the OL. Between Thomas, Smiley and Long, our interior OL is fragile at best. All the more reason why we should have drafted a quality OL in this draft. Waiting and hoping for a player to be cut or for a team to make a player available via trade is extremely foolish, this should have been addressed much sooner IMO.

He was listed on DraftDog's Small School sleepers board as well.

And Ricky tore his pec in Oct-Nov wasn't it? And he was fine by minicamp so D Thomas may not be done for the season, though whomever is the backup will have a chance to play in the regular season I'd think.

It's more important that Coach DiGiuglielmo gets the guys we have on the same page, with great timing, than that we go searching elsewhere for a stud guard, although it would be nice if we could get one. It's early enough that we can have all these people we have working on assignments and timing, which can partially compensate for lack of raw talent, so that one or two serviceable guards emerge. Even if we get somebody it would be good for depth.

By the way, don't panic. You never know. Bob Kuechenberg was a tryout player.

    we'll be just fine:
    1. plenty of depth @ guard
    2. Thomas will probably return in time to complete training camp
