Consider, Alama-Francis beat him out of the starting job. Then, AF is too sick to play, and Misi has a VG game, and will be tuff to get out of that starter's spot. No idea what powers may be at work here. Just glad that Misi is on our team.
You've gotta make the most of opportunities as they are presented to you. Misi did that yesterday. Solid game from the Rook.
Yeah I agree...I think he put Francis on the bench for a while after that game yesterday. The guy was bull rushing like mad, looked very good to me. Hopefully he can keep it up over the next 15 games.
So easy for a player to get down on himself, losing your starting job, and then a last minute fill in for the guy who beat him out. He should have had a bad game. Quite the opposite. To me, what he did was very impressive.
Misi was all over the field just like the rest of the defense. Looked good and hopefully keeps up the good work. Him and Odrick both played well.
Forgive me for asking this, I'd been swamped at work for the week leading up to the Buffalo game, but did Sparano say that Alama-Francis had won the starting job somewhere? I'd seen a few posts of tweets saying IAF was rotating in with the 1st team with Misi, but nothing more than that... I'd been under the assumption that Misi was the starter all along and IAF would rotate in. Anyone know the whole story? Just curious.
Funny how things happen. It's like he was meant to be there. Don't get me wrong, I am not a superstitious person. Knock on wood. LOL
I'm not really sure where that rumor came from or why people assumed that IAF was the starter. I think it came from the fact that in practice IAF had begun to take 1st string reps opposite Cam Wake. But what people didn't realize is, that was because they wanted to get Koa Misi reps at WOLB, since he's now the primary backup at WOLB behind Cam Wake (they ditched Charlie Anderson). Nobody knows who would have taken the most snaps if IAF and Koa Misi, if they were both available. The press were only guessing and, as we've seen plenty of times in the past, they can be shall we say 'not so good' at guessing these kinds of things.
Not that it's worth much but, teensy little note from Peter King http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/peter_king/09/12/week1/4.html
was just reading that...lots of good nuggets here (posted in other related threads) m. Good start for Koa Misi and Cameron Wake, who each had a sack in the 15-10 win at Buffalo. The pass rush in Miami has to flow through them.
Charmed one? I'm not sure what that means but for a rookie starting at OLB in his first NFL game he was very impressive..... Stay tuned
Not to mention that I'm pretty sure Cameron Wake got held on 75% of the plays. The refs were extremely lenient on calling holding penalties for Buffalo
I think refs forgot they could throw flags yesterday. The late hit on Marshall by Witner was ridiculous. I guess BM got a little payback for that later though with that block.
A Charmed One? No. Not hot enough. BTW, Pieper Peirbo is on a new series "Covert Affairs" which is actually pretty good. And my god are they all smoking hot. Misi's cool and all....But...Y'know....
Misi had a great game! I'm sure Ike will still rotate in and be part of a heavy package including Soliai. That would make sense to me... Didn't I see Moses out there too? I was surprised to see that...
I had read that Alama-Francis was going to start, with Misi coming in on passing plays. Again, that may have been wrong but A-F was showing well vs the run. I'n sure he'll be in some.
Never count out Koa Misi. I believe it was his Soph year at UTAH that he suffered a hand injury so severe that it almost cost him two fingers. His hand was caught in a helmet to helmet hit and two fingers were severely smashed and just hanging by the skin, bones exposed. Anyway that injury kept him out of a grand total of one game. He had his hand pinned and was back in action after missing one game. Misi is tough and fast. It would be a shock if he isn't a significant contributor for the Phins.
And in the Sugar Bowl against Bama the next year, he was the best player on the field. Better than Sean Smith, better than Hightower, better than McClain. He was dominant.
Thats what happens when players aren't entitled to starting spots. Misi knows that if isn't doing a good job, they'll put someone in there who would. If IAF wasn't on the roster, I don't think you see Misi play as well as he did Sunday.
i personally dont think Misi ever lost his starting spot... IAF will def rotate in and thats fine, but Misi will be the starter and he will be good for us... everytime i watch him whether through preseason or this game im still amazed by his strength, hes gonna be a good one
